刺客兄弟会的教条教导我们诸行皆可，我曾以为这表示我们可以自由地去做想做的事，为了追求理想而不计任何代价。

现在我懂了，诸行并非都得到允许，而是教条本身即为一种警告。

理想太容易跟教义妥协，而教条则让人变得狂热。

没有任何权利高过我们自己的判断。

也没有至高的主宰在监视可以惩罚我们的罪。

到了最后，只有我们自己可以避免过度执着，也只有我们自己可以决定前进的路是否要付出太高的代价。

我们总以为自己是救赎者、复仇者、或救星。我们向反对我们的人发动战争，然后他们再反过来向我们发动战争。

我们总梦想着在世界上留下我们的印记……但我们却只在史书不会记载的战争中白白牺牲自己的性命。

我们的所作所为、我们现在拥有的一切，都将随我们自己一起消逝。

The Creed of the Assassin Brotherhood teaches us that nothing is forbidden to us. Once, I thought that meant we were free to do as we would. To pursue our ideals, no matter the cost.

I understand now. Not a grant of permission. The Creed is a warning.

Ideals too easily give way to dogma. Dogma becomes fanaticism.

No higher power sits in judgment of us. No supreme being watches to punish us for our sins.In the end, only we ourselves can guard against our obsessions. Only we can decide whether the road we walk carries too high a toil.

We believe ourselves redeemers, avengers, saviors. We make war on those who oppose us, and they in turn make war on us.We dream of leaving our stamp upon the world…even as we give our lives in a conflict that will be recorded in no history book.

All that we do, all that we are, begins and ends with ourselves.
