New fan coming from FF2R, enjoying this game for the same reasons I liked crimson butterfly. That being said the controls are far worse making combat more difficult than needed. Worth playing if you already like the franchise

Great sequel to RE7, this entry sees a protagonist go from amateur to John Wick level professional. The game is very action oriented but has potentially the scariest section out of any Resident Evil game as well. Any game is a good place to start for this franchise, if FPS intense game play is your thing then why not start here?

Best Resident Evil game in the franchise, game that saved the entire IP. This entry is much more horror focused while retaining the identity of the genre defining mechanics in a brand new perspective, first person. If you love B horror films, this is a game for you

8/10 remake that mixes nostalgia and modern improvements.

The combat system is very unique you take pictures to do damage and the better the picture the higher the damage. This means you need to worry about composition having the wraith in frame while you manage zoom and focus. The camera has a lot of utility, it takes different film types that can do more damage or load faster. There are 4 filters that have puzzle solving tools as well as different effects on wraiths.

The story is told through a handful of characters who died in the village that you are following their trail and see how how its connected to your situation. This is mostly done by capturing spirits and reading the the journals they leave behind

But its not perfect, the combat stumbles a lot from poor balancing. I was either taking out wraiths with a single shot or frustratingly not able to even take pictures because some disappear too fast and often. It didn't stop me from wanting to explore the side stories or progress through the main story but should at least be said

Pros:
Horror
Unique combat system
Story and side content
Replayablity/speed running
Camera filters and puzzles

Cons:
Poor difficulty balance
Wraith fights can be frustrating
Very linear

Great game if you are a Resident Evil fan already, first couple of hours might be rough but push through and the game becomes peak RE

Very fun PS1 era inspired survival horror game set in WW1. Enjoyable to scavenge and explore every area, there is a lot of back tracking like OG resident evil games. My only complaint is that standard difficulty is too easy, I always had enough ammo to easily deal with the situation

Combat is a mix of Dead Space and Resident Evil 1 while the story strikes a similar chord to Remedy's story telling in games like Control and Alan Wake without being too in your face about it

Setting is very interesting, there were many impressive visuals in the first couple of hours. The world feels broken in a way you are exploring why its broken. The map design is well crafted, you can tell it was made by a team of veterans. I never got lost and where to go was mostly intuitive and clever

Nothing about this game is particularly unique but its execution is impressive. By mixing flavors you already know the game is able to make these mechanics feel fresh
