Pro-gay interpretations of the Bible are so far-fetched and use such contorted logic. I respect an atheist/agnostic/deist more. If you believe the Bible (and/or church tradition) believe it! All the pro-gay arguments could be used to make pro-adultery or pro-bestiality arguments, and would if the dominant culture was as insistent that those things are okay. They say things like 'the Bible only mentions homosexuality six times' when a) it mentions bestiality less b) even if it mentioned it once you should consider what it says and if it mentioned it twice you should take it very seriously.

I can sort of understand the emotional appeal of pro-gay arguments. It doesn't seem fair that some people have same sex attraction, apparently not by choice, and that they need to remain celibate and never have romantic love, which our popular culture tells us is basically the meaning of life. But that doesn't change what the Bible and church teachings say. I just can't stand intellectual dishonesty and inconsistency. If you value your sympathy for gays who want to be told their relationships are alright more than your religion, so be it, but don't half ass it and try to have it both ways and pretend there is no inconsistency in being a pro-gay Christian.
