Overview

DOOM: The Dark Ages is the third (fourth if you count DOOM 64) installment of the Doomslayer's journey of pulping demons. The Dark Ages is a prequel to DOOM 2016 and explores the world and lore that was further explored in DOOM Eternal.

Gameplay

Gameplay wise it’s still the same action packed game as it’s predecessors, however this games gimmick takes on a bit of a more medieval/gothic approach as you are equipped with a shield (which is also the chainsaw, cause of course it is). The shield can be used to parry enemy attacks at the right moment, which feels satisfying to pull off. It also introduces a couple of new weapons that feel unique. All can be upgraded, some through progression and the rest through exploration.
With it’s limited parkour and platforming, this game is the opposite of DOOM Eternal since you basically are a tank and are supposed to take the fight head on and not jump from platform to platform like you’re freaking Spiderman or something.
The Dark Ages also introduces to a few ”vehicles” which may look intimidating but they actually ain’t difficult to control at all.

Story

So the story takes a bit of a focus on this installment compared to DOOM 2016 and Eternal, where it was minimal, you were given an objective and you do it. The story did develop with Eternals DLC’s but with The Dark Ages, it is clear that ID Software wanted us to understand the world a bit more with it’s expansive cutscenes and characters. However understanding the story isn’t necessary, everything can be skipped for some who just prefer to massacre demons.

Soundtrack

Just like with 2016 and Eternal, A banging heavy metal soundtrack playing as you’re deforming demons to a pile of gore. It sounds good and it feels good.
Most of the complaints are about that it’s not Mick Gordon, but I have a personal hot take: Mick Gordon was overrated. He made a good soundtrack unique to his style just like the people behind Eternal and The Dark Ages. I know what happened to Mick was wrong and ♥♥♥♥ Marty Stratton.

Conclusion (TL;DR)

With a shield and gun, a damn good action packed game with a bit of a story focus and along with a banging soundtrack. This is a must buy if you like fast paced First Person Shooters. However in this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up economy, I do prefer to get this on a sale.

It's simple and addictive, basically single-player poker, where you have to beat the round score by getting poker hands, using the help from various joker cards and booster packs to strengthen your score.

As someone who doesn't like roguelikes, especially deckbuilders. This was a pleasant surprise of how good this is and it's one of the best games to play on the Steam Deck. I recommend this to anyone who is slightly interested in this title.

One of the most important games on Steam and in gaming history. Without Half-Life, there wouldn't have been no Valve and without Valve, there wouldn't have been no Steam.

I highly recommend you to at least try this out and if this happens to be too old of a game for you then i could suggest you to try out the remake that was made in the source engine called "Black Mesa".

Cyberpunk 2077 got a lot of bad reputation when it first launched and understandably so. Still, I completed the game back in it's first months. I can confirm that it was a buggy mess at times but it didn't stop me from playing it, because it was enjoyable; in a beautifully crafted world with an interesting setting and backstory, not to mention the memorable characters this game has given us. The gameplay is decent, fun and smooth enough as it is a shooter after all most of the times.
It has been announced that this game will receive a story expansion DLC: "Phantom Liberty", which is something to look forward to.

Overall this is a very good game only haunted by its past.

I admit this game was a little bit overhyped before launch and it didn't help the fact how management handled the development of the game. CD Projekt Red have done a good job on fixing this game although this shouldn't have never happened to begin with. At least they are fixing it instead of leaving and abandoning it like other certain triple A studios have been doing lately.
With the announcement of that CDPR have several Witcher games and a Cyberpunk game in the works. We must not forget what happened with this game and make sure they don't end up screwing things up even more. It takes so little to destroy your good reputation than to achieve it.

It's good, maybe one of the best 2D survival sandbox games out there. Sure i may not have enough hours on record but i can see myself sinking more time into it if i'd take the time to learn everything the game has to offer (which is a lot).

It's Doom... What else you want me to say? Other than the soundtrack being a real banger as always and it's slightly not as better than Doom 2016 though but still great.

Early Access Review
A faithful fan-made remake from the 1998 classic "Half-Life" modernized to the Source engine with new music, sounds, models, textures and even levels expanded with new areas to explore.

Gameplay feels the way it should for a FPS game.
Multiplayer however isn't that lively but then again, who would buy this just for that anyway?
And now after waiting for so long, Xen will soon be here (well it already is in a public beta with a few levels available)

All in all, it's a good remake 8,5/10

Ever since i started playing this in 2008, this game has gotten many ups and downs when it came to updates. Yet still to this day i keep coming back to it to cause some mayhem because it's pretty enjoyable and probably addictive if you aren't careful enough.
The game is not perfect but it's still good enough... and this comes from the guy who is bad at the game.

Ps. This review sucks
