Easily the best open source game I've ever played.

Godot isn't my favorite engine, but it is a pretty nice piece of software for prototyping. However, I can't really see myself using it for any major projects. It's really quite unfortunate that the C# build of Godot isn't available on steam, cause GDScript sucks. The C# build is much more tolerable (especially with recent updates), though still a little scuffed. This review would be negative, but it seems the engine is being review bombed because the Godot foundation is somehow gate-keeping free and open source software? I don't really know. It's not the worlds nicest engine, but its not as bad as these people (who seem to be largely not game developers) seem to think it is.

Buy the first game instead - it is one of my favorite games of all time, and it's actually finished. If you want good graphics and interstellar mechanics I can recommend the mods KSP Interstellar and Parallax shaders.
