Maelstrom was originaly released 2007,
the new Enhanced edition does greatly improve the game.
In short, the previous game "perimieter" from same developer was kind of the better one, and initital release had issues with performance and way find. A lot of original ideas for terraforming didnt really work out in terms of gameplay.

The 2026 Edition, does an increadible job to deliver the gameplay Experince the developers did try to make.

The gameplay is now very nice and fluent, you can like in battlezone switch to ego perspective swith to commander view, even use from ego perspetive some of the vehicles. The units can switch to fight in close combat like in Warhammer. The factions have some very good ideas, the aliens who flood the map with water , another faction has very cool Transformers. The AI is really great at handling the game. A neat feuture is that you can optionaly disable the terraforming.


Yes Terraforming is Maelstroms main feuture, but kind of its main weak point in same time. Its nice to see that developers did revisit the game and made it much more better. It does deserve its second chance.
