This game has a huge variety of different playstyles. I have played it a lot. While i'm writing this, i've played it almost 300 hours and there is still lot of content for me.

Of course you CAN buy different weapons, but it is not necessary because valve has balanced the game in a way that the starting weapons are the most powerful. Eeach of the weapons is also unlockable through just playing the game. Only things you have to buy are completely cosmetic, and do NOT give you any sort of advantage.

The community is huge and the game is being updated constantly. The game is not easy to learn because the mechanic is so different compared to other shooters. I suggest giving it a little time. When i started, I didn't like the game so much, but after playing it for like 20 hours I loved it. The game is humorous and I often laugh a lot while playing it.
