Alright, let’s talk Split Fiction. Hazelight Studios has been killing it with co-op games—A Way Out and It Takes Two were already bangers—and somehow, they’ve managed to crank things up a notch here. This game’s one of those rare gems that just flips the script on what you expect from the genre.

Story & Narrative
The story? Eh, it’s not the star of the show. It’s kinda predictable, and I never really clicked with the characters. Like, I wanted to care, but it didn’t hit me in the feels the way I hoped. Some of the big moments fell flat because of that. Still, I’ll give it this: Split Fiction doesn’t pretend it’s some deep, story-heavy masterpiece. It’s all about the gameplay—and holy crap, does it deliver there.

Gameplay & Co-op Experience
Hands down, this is the best co-op game I’ve played. My buddy and I smashed through it over two nights, about six hours each, so you’re looking at 12 hours total. The pacing’s spot-on—never drags, never feels rushed. Compared to It Takes Two, it’s a bit trickier, but the checkpoints are generous, so you’re not raging at the screen.
What really hooked me was how it keeps things fresh. Every few minutes, bam, new mechanics, new challenges. Nothing gets old. Honestly, if we didn’t have work the next day, we’d have blasted through it in one go—it’s that good. Co-op’s baked into every second of it, and it just works. No clunky bits, no awkward moments. Perfection.

Music & Sound Design
The music—oh man, it’s unreal. Every track fits whatever’s happening on screen like a glove. Tense chase? Heart-pounding beats. Quiet moment? Something soft and chill. It’s like the composer was in my head. And the sound design? Hazelight’s got this down to a science. Playing with a friend, you’d think the audio would get messy, but nope—everything’s crystal clear. No overlap, no chaos. Just like their other games, it’s immersive as heck. Every little sound, from footsteps to random chatter, pulls you in deeper.

Controls & Performance
I stuck with a controller (it’s what they recommend), and it felt smooth as butter. Can’t vouch for keyboard and mouse, but I’d bet it’s fine too. Visually? Stunning. The art sucks you right into the world, and it runs like a dream. No lag, no glitches, nothing. My rig’s decent—meets the recommended specs—and it’s awesome to see a 2025 game that’s actually optimized. No excuses needed.

EA
EA being involved had me worried at first. You know how it is with them. But here’s the good news: no forced EA account for online play unless you’re doing crossplay. Steam folks like me can just dive in, no extra logins. Thank goodness.

Final Thoughts
Split Fiction is co-op gaming at its peak. The story’s whatever, sure, but the gameplay’s so dang good you won’t care. If you’ve got a friend and a weekend to burn, this is it. Easily one of the most fun, polished co-op rides out there.

Can't transfer my save. I've never modded on GTA before ever. Not a great start.

Oh, also text chat was removed too. WHY?

I completed the game on Xbox a while ago. I decided to pick it up on PC because of how much I love the game. The game is pretty bloated with content but I wouldn't personally call it boring, just not needed. The world is beautiful to explore and the story isn't going to win an award but it isn't bad. Some pretty funny moments. I'd suggest checking this one out. A lot of people will think of reasons to hate this game but at it's core, it's a good game, especially when it's on sale for £10. I have yet to play the DLC but I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Campaign ended on a cliffhanger, I'm sure Titanfall 3 will be coming out soon!

I tried really hard to get into this game, but after 3 days of closing the game after 1 or 2 missions I finally accepted this game just isn't for me. I get there are people who really enjoy this game, but I am not one of them. The open world is bland and nothing is ever happening. Almost every side quest is bland and boring. Some NPCs are pretty funny but most of them just repeat dialogue after 1-3 voice lines. The story is interesting, but the amount of travel needed inbetween just made me lost interest with the game. The amount of invisible walls for an "open world" game ruins the open world immersion for me a lot. The combat is fun on harder difficulties, but it eventually just gets tedious after the initial "wow" the game gives. Overall, I am happy I bought this on sale for £9.99. Otherwise, I would be a lot more upset with the letdown this game turnt out to be for me. Bland open world, main storyline is the only interesting thing but the forced long journeys ruins any interest in the story for me.
