Review Showcase
As much as I enjoy the main story and the series in general, I really can't recommend this version over the original 2014 RGG: Ishin!. My main issue is that the game has been made incredibly more grindy in three main ways.

- Battle Dungeons : Compared to the original, the health of enemies within the later Battle Dungeons have been increased to such a high amount that it overall bogs them down as an experience. Them being longer due to every enemy having more health makes materials and money more of an issue, which brings me to my next point,..

- Smithing : Compared to the original's smithing system, the prices for crafting has been multiplied by a hundred times; what was originally 4 Ryo to make now costs 104 Ryo. How exactly are you supposed to get all this money, you may ask? Gambling. Lots of gambling.

- Card System : While the card system in the original was only locked to the battle dungeons, the remake decided to incorporate it into the main game.
THE CARD SYSTEM IS NOT AN ISSUE ON ITS OWN
, rather the balance changes made to Ryoma to accommodate the introduction of the system into the rest of the game, To make the cards more of a presence, the health upgrades you get from the upgrade wheel have been drastically reduced, and you now instead gain those health increases from the cards you have equipped. As a result, to get any health, you need to grind even further in order to level up your cards just to get the health boosts you need to survive throughout the game. The cards and their associated health boosts do not activate in the arena and trainer battles, so you're doing them with about 2/5ths of the max health bar you would have in the original, which can just lead to even more tedium from dying over and over to particularly difficult opponents.
