Horror - Generally less gore and more suspense or dread; generally favor supernatural horror. All time scariest for me is Visage.

Strategy - Turn-based Tactics Style RPGs, City Builders & Grand Strategy games tend to be my favorites. Civilization holds a special place in my heart, and the Caveman 2 Cosmos mod for Civ IV is my all-time top pick.

Choices Matter - Not really a genre, but it works, I enjoy games with in depth choices or stories that react to my decisions. Top picks for that are the Gravity Falls-esque visual novel, Scarlet Hollow & the admittedly buggy but very well done RPG Alpha Protocol.

Detective Games - Love good mysteries that give you a role to play solving the case or getting involved in things. For this Disco Elysium is probably top less for the case stuff and more for its unique and novel approach to things.

RPGs - Big fan of classical fantasy titles like Neverwinter Nights, Skyrim, Pathfinder etc. but also less traditional ones like the Shadowrun Series & of course, my all time non-classical pick, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.
