A friend of mine bought this game for me. It's just not worth playing. I've never played Ark: Survival Evolved, but it reminded very heavily of that. Character customization didn't take long, the gameplay itself was... Good Lord. I didn't like Raft very much, and I've played Valheim, 7 Days To Die. Playing this game felt like hopping on a Chinese knockoff of Subnautica or something. I don't know, man. Find another game for the same price that might actually be worth your time, this one feels and plays terribly.

I never really got into this game but I can absolutely see the appeal. Community is reminiscent of the old days of the internet. Lots of good folks. Bot crisis was fixed, thankfully. Also the classes are novel, unique, and fun to use.

750 hours as of 9/15/2025. Quit the game a year ago. The longtime world I was playing on began having severe chunk corruption. A long underground transport tunnel my friend and I dug gone overnight. No settings changed, no different mods. This was a game bug. Spent about 14 hours making a fancy horde base on another world, and that chunk also got reset. This happening means the devs don't know what they're doing, and also didn't account for worlds people stay on for long, because the game itself is designed for you to start > progress > repeat and never to stay, which literally makes no sense.

The devs are a bunch of old guys. They don't know what the hell they're doing. They're too prideful and ego driven to listen to their players. They'd rather belittle, minimize, and fight with them than improve the game. Horde bases and whatnot are looked at like an exploit rather than the players' logical conclusion to fighting the mechanics THEY created themselves. There's a reason people call them "The Fun Police".

Do yourself a favor, save your money and especially save your time. Try out Project Zomboid, Vintage Story, or even Valheim. Anything is better than a game where the devs hate you, the player, for playing the game in the way THEY don't intend for you to. 1.0 was a marketing gimmick, it's Alpha 22. "2.0" doesn't even make sense, it changes virtually nothing, and is Alpha 23. This game never left alpha. Also, why the hell does it need to be so grindy??

[Old Review]
After 550 hours of playing this game, it's time to write my review of it:

Its gameplay is very satisfying and keeps you in quite the loop. There is enough content and variety here for over 100+ hours of gameplay which I'd say is well-worth the price of the game. Interiors / "POIs" are varied and realistic, many locations look and feel how you'd expect a place in real life like it to be.

The gunplay is a little awkward but I've dealt with worse or I'm just not all that bothered by it. Headshots on zombies can be difficult as their head moves in such weird ways due to how the mocap actor did it for them, so you'll usually find yourself just going for bodyshots.

Early game is quite brutal but with enough hours you'll start to get acquainted with it I think, the game's progression itself is actually not that bad, but the fact people can just rush tier V POIs right off the bat kind of flips things on their head a little.

Building in this game is more time-consuming than others in its genre I feel, but overall it's very satisfying at the level of Valheim, which is quite the accomplishment. You can build some crazy stuff, personally all I usually built was decorated bunkers. There's enough furniture variety to where you won't be finding it too difficult to decorate especially if you have the Better Bases modlet.

The grind is atrocious. I usually found myself babysitting crafting stations for long periods, and this is made even worse by the stupid "heatmap" system that causes screamer zombies to spawn, they summon uptiered zombie blitzkriegs if you don't kill them in time. That got very annoying very quickly, but thankfully "modlets" are a thing you can download and edit it yourself if you're not a troglodyte, so that didn't end up being a huge issue.

Anyway, would I recommend this game? I don't think so. The reason for that is because it will never be completed. While this game is certainly in a very unique situation and I've known about it since 2013, I only decided to try it now because a friend of mine was playing it and I figured I'd check it out. I neglected to write a review because I wanted to give it enough time to get acquainted with the game and really make sure my verdict is how I really feel.

This game has been in alpha for 10 YEARS. I know people complain about that a lot, but it's true. This game should have been completed at least 5 years ago. But the issue is that the devs seem not to have a concrete vision for the game, and keep revising entire systems they had already revised, for one reason or another. It's just stuck in this state of "add this, revise it, revise it, remove it, add it back later in a revised form", and that just simply isn't sustainable. There has to be some kind of permanence to updates instead of constantly going back on stuff.

But yeah, that's all I've really got. I just sort of played it when I had nothing else to play, and I was going through a period of depression at some point, where I managed to clock in like 24 hours in a single session one time. That's extremely unhealthy and doesn't feel good. But, if it communicates how well this game keeps you in the loop, it's got that for anyone who's a grinder type of player and enjoys that kind of thing.

Oh yeah, and I can't play it anymore because of EasyAntiCheat, or at least I'll never be able to use the online functions with my friends without hassle anymore. I got a new PC with some great specs, namely a Ryzen 9 7900X, and due to some "Kernel Debugging" bullsh*t that I've spent over 10 HOURS trying to solve, I can't play any game that uses EAC now.

It's actually fun, though you need a pair of eyeballs and a working brain in order to play it and understand the game mechanics. Who knows, maybe there's a sentient, extremely populous bipedal being which could enjoy such an experience?

Playing this with friends as a Mechanic, even though I spend most of my time in the sub, this game is actually really fun! The consistent pressure of something being able to go fantastically wrong all so suddenly is pretty cool and the game's mechanics are well-thought out and surprisingly engaging.

The sound design is quite good, and for being a 2D game, the artstyle is quite good! I wasn't expecting to get into this game as much as I have but it's a blast to play it every weekend, having an experienced commander definitely helps too.

The medical system and crafting in this game is also incredibly well-done, I can't express just how amazed I am as to the effort put into both of these and it's great!

Here's a list of memorable moments I've experienced with this little group so far:

- I wasn't online when it happened but apparently we encountered a latcher, after that they got a mod called "Caramellatching" and so I'm mildly terrified of what that will sound like lmao

- Molochs are unsettling but as long as you keep quiet they're actually just really big bros

- On my second session as a brand new player (Mechanic btw) and my first session not having been too long, consisting mainly of the tutorial and the end of a mission, we got ambushed by multiple enemies so I went straight into high-gear fixing stuff and doing errands. Somehow we made it out, but with a couple casualties!

- A buddy gets a husk infection and accidentally ends up infecting me, so then I get to die slowly in one of our ballast tanks :D

- Atlas (commander) axed me and it was hot

I'm wholeheartedly gonna rate this game a 9/10, it's not the sort of game I think I'd ever consider if my friends hadn't told me about it though. I am pleasantly surprised!

I'm impressed. There is one guy working on this game, and there's already so much that's been done - Take a look at it for a moment every few months, and it'll have a lot more than it did previously. So much potential! Many tank games tend to have issues with monetization, game design, etc. so I'm happy to inform you that this one is purely community-driven and very likely won't have any of that!

People from a variety of communities such as World of Tanks, War Thunder, Enlisted, Crossout, and other games in this kind of genre are all chipping in and helping guide this game's development. - I don't think I've seen a passion project of this size come along THIS nicely, ever.

I can't exactly comment on the game itself at the moment granted I'm waiting until it's in a more finished state but a lot of it is in working order and it's awesome to see how much the community has done, the kind of stuff they've made, etc.

I've designed a couple tanks but I think I'm going to re-design them in the future when we have extra stuff in the game such as quad-tracks, a smoother editor, the various stuff that comes with a near-finished game, seeing as it's quite Early Access at the moment.

Again, this game is still heavily in development but my God is it active as hell, I have a lot of hope for it and that's why I'm posting this review! Support the dev and buy it if you want to design cool roving metal beasts with funny stick that goes boom :>
