I miss being a blueberry... :(

This game means so much more to people than anyone who hasn't played it can ever know. Yeah I know, I had this game rated negatively for the last few years, but who could blame me? It was doing worse and worse every year; Bungie was hit with multiple layoffs during Lightfall and Final Shape's post-release, and the community's morale was at an all-time low. We were promised so much, only to be given scraps of info, slivers of engagement, and broken trust. That's not an easy wound to triage.

And now we're here. The game is coming to it's end in less than three weeks. I don't know if there will ever be a sequel, or anything within this game's universe, to play in the future. It feels like finding out your loved one has terminal cancer.

I put almost 11.5k hours into this game over a span of 6 1/2 years. That's over a whole year spent playing, loving, hating, and reminiscing over this game. I was lucky enough to be around before the infamous Sunsetting took place with Beyond Light, so I got to experience Red War, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind ( Forsaken too, before it was vaulted at the launch of the Witch Queen ). I still miss those campaigns, and regret not getting into raiding when their respective raids were still playable.

When I did finally try my hand at raids, the game became something else; grandiose, beautiful, mysterious, challenging, and a pathway into meeting so many wonderful people whom I am still friends with today. I met my fiancé through raiding. I met my core friend group, and although we might not play D2 together anymore, we still group up to play other games and chat. The loss of Destiny was a shared grief. There will never be anything else that can fill the void in its passing.

To anyone who read this far, thank you. I mean it. And to the Bungie devs, we're right there with you. Destiny might not have reached its full potential, but in the moments it touched that spark, it was radiant.
