"You know...I think when Chris punched a rock, I think that set a wrong precedent for Capcom."

I don't have much to say other then Michael Bay must've directed this resident evil, but it doesn't matter. It's still definitively RE and the tragedy is still there despite the horror being gone. This was a joyride with all of my favorite characters across the series and I genuinely can't describe this experience other than plain, dumb fun.

No comprehensive review for this one because it doesn't need it and speaks for itself. If you're a fan of the horror side of RE, I'd skip this, but if you enjoy the story and all it has to offer, unweaving this mystery is a rewarding and immaculate experience.

"Ello, Strangah!"

RE4R is the finale in the initial run of the REmake trilogy, just like my other reviews I'll try to be quick and snappy with how this game improves over the original and how they kept good faith with the community after the confusing predicament they had with RE3.

Likes:
-RE4R's color palette marks an end to the iconic, albeit kinda jarring brown and dark light filters and color palettes that gave the original its atmosphere. But I think it was an improvement to mark this as a full on remake, the game is inherently the same in terms of plot, enemies, and general mechanics. This works in the games favor overall I think and keeps the atmosphere of all the remakes to keep an aura of consistency with the new narrative while also paying tribute to the original titles.

-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do the guns feel good in this game, every bullet fired from a variety of the guns carries weight and feels powerful to account for how many enemies Leon and Ada face across the village, castle, and island. This was really important to nail, considering you spend most of the game in combat and ammo is scarce, but with the crafting system, you could always be somewhat prepared for an encounter before it happens. I think how the remake handled the case and the crafting system is also very strong by allowing a lot more customization to your loadout as well as the charms handing out boons with small buffs to aid Leon and Ada’s journey to Saddler.

-Enemy variety is very strong in this game compared to 2 and subsequently 3, while 3 had a lot of different enemy types, the way that each of them were engaged was nothing short of “pump it full of lead till it dies.” But in 4 there has to be an active focus with each enemy whether it’s a basic Ganado or a juiced up Regenarador ready to pump you full of needles, I still saw myself thinking about the tools in my kit and how to use them. Stingray my absolute beloved, you saved me from so many of those lanky regenerating sacks of meat. This was a highlight in 2 as well, but to a lesser degree, but for how active combat is in this game, it shines really well.

-The story while essentially a retelling, this game breathed life into Ashley that she sorely needed from the original. While the sections with her are certainly the same level of stress as the original, when gameplay is handed over to her, she’s a very capable secondary protagonist. I think this works really well in the games favor and makes her feel more like a partner and less an asset you need to drag around and hold you back. And when you take down saddler, I felt even better that all of Leon, Ada, and Ashley’s work all paid off.

-Seperate ways was a very strong DLC that told Ada’s side of the story, I was not expecting iy to pay attention to detail as much as it did, as well as, the length being more than I bargained for. I think this DLC does a really good job of characterizing the REmake Ada into a woman who is confused and wrestles with her own emotions while essentially helping blonde Satan. I’m very happy to see how she’s characterized this way, as I believe the original almost left us with too little characterization of why Ada functions the way she does.

-The merchant. Need I say anything else? THEY GAVE US MORE, I CAN’T EXPLAIN IT ANY BETTER, JUST MORE OF HIM AND ITS GREAT!

Dislike:
-The game is a wee bit long for me but that’s a personal gripe.

-The economy in this game is pretty saturated with a large bag of goodies, but I think the fact that we find so many weapons as the characters journey across Saddlers expansive settlement, that I kinda lost the fear midway through. I saw myself strategizing more often instead of actually paying attention to the horrors in front of me, this is a bad thing in my opinion considering that the original reason why RE almost died was it lost the horror. I don’t mind action horror, but the horror needs to be there past BOWs and heavily mutated Ganados, Capcom please, with RE5 and 6, don’t go back to action.

-While all of the boss fights played out relatively cleanly and well paced, the sheer number of boss fights in this game contributed to a lot of the length. Again, this might just be a me thing considering I associate RE with selective choices of boss fights in style, I felt similar to 3, this game was setting up set pieces and less trying to show me the horror of it all. It’s not wrong to make me feel like a badass, but the horror got diluted as a result.

Overall, RE4R is a clean, crisp, and fun action horror game that stands the test of time with the original. From seeing the priest in the village to fighting a demigod of a man known as Saddler, Leon, Ashley, and Ada shined in this game as characters. I praise the game for its bizarre nature and fun mechanics. I feel like towards the end, it crashes and burns trying to set up set pieces rather than giving me the emotion, fear, and dread that previous entries provided.

Gonna give it a crisp 8.5/10, I might platinum this one if an apocalypse happens, but it’s a journey and a half.

Coming off the RE2 remake, I was excited to see what RE3 had to offer in terms of gameplay, theme, and feel. While I was not disappointed, this game is a different experience that's a lot farther than the original in terms of a remake. I almost want to considerate this separate because of how different the experience largely is compared to the original. So let's do some quick bullet points of the stuff I did and did not like, and I'll give a flat rating at the end.

Likes
>Nemesis' original design is burned into brain because of how iconic the look is, the remastered version of him isn't only an improvement but speaks to nemesis' relentless nature as a bioweapon. A new iconic look never hurts and this game delivered.
>Nemesis' presence while entirely scripted, it provided the illusion that it wasn't, considering that there are plenty of unique ways to get him off your tail in the downtown sections of the game, almost every encounter I needed to do something different each time.
>Nemesis' new forms are a pleasure to look at.
>Weapon variety this time around was really nice, and the carlos sections with a more strapped up soldier were always fun to raise hell in.
>While 2 made me feel dread walking through the spaces, 3 was more fast paced and I'd argue more intense then it's precursor, this was a feeling I welcomed in the game about a relentless pursuer and I genuinely felt like I was always seconds away from getting my teeth knocked out by the hulk that is the tyrant.

Dislikes
>While the original was a lot more linear then 2, not this linear like it is in the remake, the game essentially cuts out a chunk of exploration during the middle portions of the game and the latter portions of the lab and hospital, not to mention that you actively had to be seeking out side objectives to fully explore the space.
>I know everyone says this but the amount of *cutscenes* with nemesis got annoying after hour 2 of the game. This was especially frustrating since you fight the same form basically twice in the same song and dance routine then a final boss fight. I felt like there was no build up to the climax considering it went from curing Jill to entering the bunker to immediately slaying Nemesis.
>This might just be a skill issue, but the dodge/punch mechanic to me is really floaty and unnecessary. I understand it exists to help compensate for the heightened aggression of enemies and the new enemy types, but the mechanic is really only used to dodge the tyrant and fight hunter betas, I just wish this system was a little more flushed out and was more accessible then 1 screw up and you take a hit. If they wanted to incorporate into gameplay like with the hunters, I think they should've made it more consistent to lean on.
>Cmon man, you had to cut out the clock tower?
>While I knew going into this game that RE3 was more action focused, I thought it would keep a lot of the original horror elements established in the 2 remake. This game isn't only tonally different, it almost plays completely different from even the previous title. I wasn't hesitating at enemies or deciding where to spend ammo as often, considering that enemies just respawned and the game gave me enough to compensate for that. Once I got to the hospital the horror was almost completely lost for me and the only reason why I got anxious was because as stated above, I didn't think the punch/dodge mechanic was consistent enough to reasonably take on hunters, outside of that I felt like I was going through the motions of an action shooter by that point.

Closing thoughts

RE3make while nowhere close to the original, as a standalone title, I can't get that mad at it as I'll admit, I found a lot of the game entertaining, I thought Jill was strong as an action protagonist and Carlos being around for the whole game was a nice change of pace. Nemesis while nowhere close to his original design mechanically, is still worthy of iconic status in the horror universe through his design and mutations. I praised early sections of the game for his inclusion and I just wish they stuck with it through the entirety of the game. But all in all, as a standalone, it's really good and has a lot to say and show. But when you contextualize from the original and the remake before it, it's a downgrade in every aspect. Menus aren't as clean, enemy behavior is as unique, things are unpolished in some areas compared to two, and because of that it's obvious this game was rushed, so if you're a die hard fan who praises the originals like no tomorrow. I'd skip this one.

But if you're a casual fan who enjoys just seeing bioweapons duke it out with our heros and are interested in the universe, I can't really not recommend it in good faith. It's a solid title and it was an attempt on a tight dealine and for that I can't be too mad.

7.5/10 Might go for the platinum if it's easy. If it's a chore, I'll probably skip.

The RE2 Remake is something I stepped into not playing the original trilogy before stepping into this experience. This is my first experience within the new RE engine that has been updated and used since 7.

I loved every second of it and it motivated me to play the originals so let this be my,"Coming to a close" take on this game and I'll bullet point to make it snappy.

>Puzzles were interesting and drove progression, made it feel like I was owning the space and making it safer by being there.
>Mr. X is a delightful menance that forces you to do a dance with avoiding him, making me have to plan my routes.
>Plenty of resources but it never felt like it considering how tanky a lot of the enemies are and variably behaved, so you can't create habits.
>While not completely true to the original, what it offers is really strong and I could tell they paid attention to minor details from the original to create this game.

Some things I wasn't super happy about,

>Shared playthroughs had events happen in the original RE2 that were caused by my original runs events, this is now absent and now I know what the term "zapping" is and I wish they did that for this game.
>2nd playthrough progression is wonkey at times and confusing at worst during certain portions till the game gets on track again from the original route, but these times were very few and far between, and only persisted for the opening portions of the second run.

Overall, I'd rate my time with RE2 remake as a crisp 9/10

Truly an unforgettable experience and I will definitely be coming back to platinum this some day.

Status: Nowhere close to done

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair holds legendary status in the franchise for a reason. The game takes the good of danganronpa 1 and cranks it to 11. While this games plot loses a lot of the thriller enviornments that the first entry placed us in, it doesn't take away from the despair and suspense of the situation. Moving, hilarious, angering, all these feelings and more is what this rollercoaster has to offer.

UDG is an odd game in the Danganronpa Franchise that is worth a visit if you are interested in the story of the games.
Chapter 3 is rough, but it doesn't take away from this weird and fantastically bizarre entry in the franchise.
Overall: 8.5/10

This game helped me understand what it means to be broken and to embrace what you got.

10/10. Would recommend to anyone really. It's accessible, fun, grim, and full of wonder and life. You are doing yourself a disservice if you do not play this game.
