This game asks the player to have a basic understanding of hydrolysis and relative densities of gases and the resultant properties of that, but does feel the need to remind you what an octagon is.

Seriously though, it's a good game if you like mysteries and watching characters that you get really attached to die (wait, what?).

Pros:
  • Well-made and interesting cases to solve
  • new and improved trial minigames are better than the first game
  • Original and more unique characters than the first game's (though those who do make a return appearance are a nice touch)

Cons:
  • Some of the cases require outside-the-box thinking or incredible attention to detail that I just don't think is logical.
  • Some minigames, especially Hangman's Gambit, can become overwhelming
  • The themes of the game and its setting clash really badly
  • Someone was worried about a murder occurring, so they confiscated everyone's forks.
Personal Taste:
  • Some of the characters, notably Peko and Nagito, can have their voice lines drowned out by music.
  • Gifting system is complicated and a community guide is basically required to go anywhere with it
  • Some of the depicted deaths are fairly brutal
  • It really sucks sometimes when your favorite character turns out to be a cold-blooded killer

In short, buy the first game first for a taste of this style and if you find you like it come here and prepare yourself for ~25 hours of reasoning, logic, child murder (Again, someone made a game about this?), and some seriously weird twists. Well worth the price, if you can get through an hour or so of Usami.

Well, I don't really know where to begin. Let's start with the ethos.

I am currently doing my 4th playthrough of the game, and I have achieved Neutral, Pacifist (Don't kill anyone), and True Pacifist (make friends with Papyrus, Undyne, and Alphys) endings (The current run is Neutral, then moving on to Genocide).

The game itself is revolutionary, but you may not know that from the screenshots. So, here are a few lists to show you basically what I mean.

GAMEPLAY:
+No one has to die! Except maybe you, if you ask Sans.
+Fun, classic RPG-style gameplay.
+Active attacks and defenses! This means that monsters don't just deal damage, you instead have to maneuver your heart (soul, whatever) around a box to dodge attacks, and you have to press Z with the right timing to attack (not that difficult).
+Bosses introduce new attacks and Soul States (movement modifiers) to keep things fresh.
-Bosses, especially Asgore, will mess you up BAD on a pacifist run.
-Can sometimes be difficult to figure out how to spare some enemies, especially bosses (again, notably Asgore).
-By the time you know you're gonna have a bad time, it's too late to change it.
-Fairly short, I've done about 3.25 runs in 15 hours.

Characters:
+Mostly lovable, quirky, and hilarious characters. Comes complete with spaghetti-obsessed skeleton, killer robot TV show host, and goat mom.
+Breaks the fourth wall ALL the time.
+All of the endings are very satisfying, and make you feel either very good about yourself, very bad about yourself, or repulsed (By the Neutral ending final boss Omega Flowey.
-Genocide runs make you feel like a terrible person.
-Onionsan. Onionsan is pointless. Luckily you won't have to endure a lot of him.

Environment/Asthetic:
+Lots of loving details put into every corner of the game, from changing the "Sparable Monster" names from yellow to pink, all the way to Lesser Dog's petting-induced snow art. Really creative.
+The music is great, and almost always fits the situation well (The duck flight scene is an apparently ironic exception).
-The areas get boring to look at if you stick around for too long, or on repeated runthroughs.

In the end, it's a great game, and definitely worth getting. However, if you want something to occupy you for a long time, this isn't the game for you. And be sure to tell Muffet NOT to pour you a brimming glass of spiders!

Also, Steam Awards! Pick this one for like every category.

Definately addicting... This game could probably be on the market for a hundred dollars and still attract millions of people.
