Tired of shooting brown people with bullethoses in the same boring modern military fps? Well if you are, The Darkness II should provide you with a fun distraction while you wait for the next Crysis or Metro games. The visuals are beautiful, sporting a comic book style similar to borderlands that will please your eyes without frying your graphics card. The gameplay is good, visceral fun! Impaling an mobster with a metal pole never gets boring, even when the canned execution animations do. You'll rip and tear your way through a fun story that, despite Jackie's terrible plans, is quite entertaining, filled with memorable characters and plenty of spectacle. The Asylum parts specifically I found particularly interesting. Unfortunately the campaign is over in about 4-6 hours, but it's paced very well and never feels remotely boring.

Overall this game has almost everything most first person shooters come out today forget about: a good story, a sense of pacing, diverse combat, and color pallete with more than just a few shades of brown.
