Ugh.

First of all, I'm massive Fallout fan. Played Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas for about 600 hours each across PC and PS3, as well as the first two games.

This one is just... disappointing.

It's not a bad game, it's a bad *Fallout* game. Bethesda prioritized wrong. They put garnering mass appeal above the desires of the fanbase and ignored what makes Fallout games so great: the atmosphere, the story, the exploration, the roleplay, etc.

The combat? Better than any other Fallout game. That's objective fact. The graphics? Likewise. Crafting and weapon upgrades? Also much better than previous games.

But roleplay is nonexistent, not just because there's a voiced protagonist, but because the voice actor is godawful and it forces you to adopt a certain personality. Also, dialogue has been simplified to the point that it does the game injustice. You have four dialogue options, and the vast majority are "more information," "sarcasm," "yes, I'll do the quest", "no, I won't do the quest (usually still makes you take the quest."

Also, one of the things that made previous games so great was the wacky side stories you'd stumble across while playing. In Fallout 4, 95% of locations consist of "kill all the raiders/super mutants infesting the location, find the chest with levelled loot, and never visit it again." And there are only like 2 major settlements (besides player-built ones) with people living in them, whereas New Vegas had at least 5.

Overall, Fallout 4 is a disappointment to fans. If you're new to the series, I'd probably recommend it, because it's not a bad game in itself. But if you're a seasoned Fallout fan, stick with New Vegas.

Pros:
+ Fantastic detective, crimesolving game.
+ The facial capture technology makes characters lifelike and believable, even more so than modern games with better graphics.
+ The story itself (between cases) is pretty good, and all the voice work is well done.

Cons:
- Game is locked at 30 fps. Unlocking it is possible but breaks the physics and facial expressions of the game.
- Graphics are outdated, even for when the game came out.
- Kind of a niche game. If you like action, it's not the game for you. But if you like mystery, intrigue, etc, I'd highly recommend it.

Overall, great game despite the flaws.

This game would be great, if it worked. Whenever I launch the game it minimizes instantly, and I can't pull it back up.

I was trying to scavenge enough wood to make another bed. After a few days, I didn't need another bed.

Over the course of video game history, there have been few true classics. Games that outshone all others. Mass Effect. Zelda.

Bad Rats.

This game is truly incredible. Top-notch graphics and storytelling create an unrivaled sense of immersion. The story is about 20 hours long without a single dull moment. Gameplay feels great, and killing the cat is always rewarding. It's obvious this game had a dedicated development team who truly cared about their game, and I'm honored just to be allowed to play it and be a part of it.

This game was life-changing. I can't recommend it enough.

Pretty good, although not as good as Fallout New Vegas. I'd give it a 7/10.

You'll launch the game, mess around for an hour or so, and then get bored. Process repeats a few days later.

Fun game, but broken. Horrible lag in the steam version, and the "feature" to link your steam account to your web account in order to play on the working browser version doesn't actually work. This has been broken for at least a year, even this long after release.
