The beginning bit of this game can be stressful. Making sure your batteries are good, systems are powered, O2 filters are good, oxygen levels are stable, etc. while bouncing from system to system doing jobs. But then you unlock the Scanner upgrade, and the entire game changes. You can scan systems for scrap to go and pickup and sell. Money doesn't become an object really anymore because you can grab random items floating in space to sell on top of doing jobs.

You might think that this makes the game boring, and it might for some. For me, however, this is when the game really became something I really enjoyed. Having shelves stocked with containers of ship items (batteries, UCCs, filters, etc) so that you just stop and swap as needed for standard maintenance. The game becomes such a chill no-stress space trucking game.

It's the game I come and play when I just want to chill out. You can throw on nearly any radio station you want from the real world to play through the in-game radio in your truck, so when I want some chill game play, I fly through space hauling freight and listen to a station that plays old radio shows. There's just something about the ambience, the noises, the way the radio gets muffled when you put on the space suit to go outside the ship, that is just unmatched for me in any other game that I'd consider "no-stress". This is when Star Trucker really hit its stride for me.

The beginning of the game can be difficult, but learning how to conserve power, (such as wedging the storage containers on the shelves by opening the lids, and then flying with no gravity) or managing your oxygen levels and filters while trying to haul things around, in my opinion makes the part of the game when you don't have to do that anymore all the more rewarding. I absolutely adore this game, and what the devs have made. The devs are only a few people, so these updates are separated by large amounts of time, sure, but I've noticed that they are consistent in adding features to the game.

This isn't a hardcore trucking sim like Euro Truck Sim or anything, its not a true space sim because the flying can be a bit wonky at times, but once the game clicks, it really clicks and I love it for what it is.

The beta ran so much smoother that this. I had constant stuttering with this release, and got multiple warnings in-game that popped up that my PC was overheating. Checked task manager and everything is at 100% usage so that's... cool. Might be something with my PC, but there's no way I would recommend this in this state. I even went back to the people I did recommend it to to tell them about this just to warn them. I experienced no glitches, but my god the amount of times I spawned in directly into an explosion and just instantly died had me just absolutely stunned. Then to top it off, the anti cheat lingers after you uninstall the game, its very intrusive, and for some reason they've prohibited you from; having USB drives plugged in while playing, using any sort of python scripts which you might have on your machine for convenience, and using Process Monitor??? Weird af. I was so hyped for this game, and the entire experience was just terrible.

Hard no from me.

Honestly just a game filled with stupid dumb fun and I love every second of it. The fact that I can get hyped just by watching the loading screen is not something I have experienced in another game. The soundtrack is amazing, the gunplay is so satisfying, and there is nothing quite like calling in an orbital strike on a bug the size of a small building while cinematically diving out of the way of the explosion.

If you are a fellow lover of Democracy™ then hop in, Helldiver. We're going hunting.

A literal classic. Ahead of its time when it was released, and the gameplay still holds up today (even more so for the nostalgia factor)

Early Access Review
This game was a free multiplayer shooter, and now I see they're re-releasing it as a paid single-player shooter? Lmao the absolute greed in the studio is insane. I have no idea who made the idea to do this, but its terrible.

DO NOT BUY (original review from 2022 below)

Straight up here's what I liked:

-Gunplay feels great (however, there are some weird moments where shots don't register, etc.)
-Movement feels great, but can be a bit janky (to be expected with early-acces) but still good
-Expedition mode is cool and PvE and PvP is nice to switch it up depending on what you feel like doing
-PvP maps are cool, the movable blocks and destructible walls add some coo strategies

Here's what I didn't like:
-You get such small amounts of blueprints and credits (or whatever the in-game earnable currency is called, I honestly don't remember) that buying slots on weapons, or attachments, feels like it takes a while to earn any meaningful amount. The grind is real in this game.
-Blueprints system for the weapon "modifications" but are basically just skins that come with perks. It's a really weird way of doing it I found, wasn't really for me tbh.
-Movement and stuff is janky as said above, seems to be some shots not registering, but again, kind of to be expected with early access.

In short: Game is good, but I wouldn't recommend it just solely because of the enormous grind to be able to purchase and unlock stuff. 450 blueprints for a modification, but you get like 2-4 on average from an expedition depending on how useful your team is. That's brutal. 500 credits to unlock an attachment slot, but you get like 15 every pvp match. It just feels like you go nowhere. Game is fun though, and the devs really seem to be fixing issues in real time. I had an issue that was the game crashing every time I went back to the lobby after a match, and its already fixed. Devs are great, and it will be cool to see what the final polished product will look like.

It's meh. If Halo and Portal had a baby. Fun, but gets repetitive quick. If you're into that, then give it a try.

Been playing on XBox for about a year and a half now (since Forsaken) and now have moved to PC. PC Is definitely far superior. The aiming is easier, the load times are amazing, and it just overall feels better. The free version "New Light" gives you a bunch of stuff to do, but the expansions Forsaken and Shadowkeep are where its at. Definitely give it a try and if you like it, absolutely get the expansions.

I'm not usually one for turn-based strategy games, but my god it's like this gmae is a masterpiece. With a mix of the music, and gameplay, and everything, it's so immersive. Sure, it seems like I'm sucking Firaxis' proverbial ♥♥♥♥, but the ONLY reason I picked this game up, was because the trailer was amazing, and I only watched it after hearing a crap ton about how unforgiving this game is on a gaming podcast. Yes, you will rage. You will miss 99% shots and hit on 38%, but I'll be damned if you won't enjoy every minute of it.

A great tactical FPS, where strategy and TEAMWORK is key. A great game if you get a decent group of players, which to be honest, is most of the time. The community for Insurgency is one of the most helpful I have seen. Granted you still get the odd douche, but the majority are well-rounded players who are willing to help newbies.

Insurgency has a few small tournaments going on here and there, no prizes yet, but its still fun to play in them. The only real complaint I have for this game, is that the devs PLEASE for the love of God, fix the competitive matchmaking. It's insane that when a few people quit, the entire game stops, until more people join, and then restarts. gets frustrating when it happens about 7 times in a row.

For the most part, its a very fun game, the rest is waiting for players to join your match. I definitely recommend this game, especially at a sale price, but bear in mind its been out a year, there are some balance and matchmaking kinks to still work out.

This game is a great little platformer when you just want something a little different. The humour is great, the complete and utter exageration of DLC in this game is great. It's such a fun little experience, definitely worth the money.
