The Hunter: Call of the Wild is a beautiful, immersive and surprisingly in-depth game. I purchased this game in the sale and is one of the best impulse purchases I've made to date. The content is DLC heavy but the DLC is reasonably cheap adds a fair bit of content along the way. I was very quick to pick up a lot of the DLC within the first month of the initial purchase of the base game.

This game is not a run and gun style of game but instead, you take your time, learn the land, the wildlife and set up your shots. as a result this is not for the impatient. I have gone a whole hour without a single kill, tracking my targets and taking in the scenery.

The missions do a good job of easing you into the game mechanics and you find a combination of luck and skill is required to find and kill the perfect animal. so far I've got only a few silver and even fewer gold-rated harvests and although I have seen Diamond potential targets roaming my maps they are super aware and have yet to get a Diamond kill of my own.

Multiplayer is fun but has its bugs and can get a little annoying when desync occurs and you find you need the host to track your kills for you as they do not show for you. Single-player is a far more stable experience. another issue to be aware of is game logic appear to be bound to your FPS and as such if your machine struggles to maintain a stable FPS then it can get a little unpleasant. note FPS issues can in my experience affect the multiplayer session. the one with the better FPS will walk faster than others.

My overall conclusion for this game is a-side from the few annoying bugs; it is a beautiful slow-paced and simply immersive game with a rabbit hole you cannot help but follow; a true time sink.
