Nothing more fun than missing an 98% shot and consequently getting a squad wipe, i still love the game to death tho

I have very fond memories of playing this game with my housemate back when it was still quite new. I am now replaying the campaign and I must conclude it holds up exceptionally well. I honestly think this is one of the best tactical campaigns you can play to date.

Sure, the writing and cut scenes are incredibly cliché-ridden and overacted, but I actually kind of like it that way. It feels really 90's, in a good way. The tactics and base management are easy to get into but have a fair amount of depth.

Most importantly the game has a lot of character; you feel like you are really leading a company of elite soldiers to try and save humanity, not just playing a board game with game pieces. I highly recommend playing iron man mode, as it makes the whole experience so much more exciting. Every soldier lost truly hurts, making every mission feel like a high-stakes affair.

I highly recommend this game, especially since it can frequently be picked up dirt cheap.

Good game with fun step by step strategy elements. The plot is a bit linear but saving a planet never seems to get old.
