Oh boy this Deluxe Upgrade stinks, it's hella overpriced for what it brings to the table and worst of all, contains resold DLC species from the previous game.

Let's get into it, starting with the most negligible part of this DLC, the 3 ATV skins. These shiny paintjobs are absolute Horse Armor, they come in red, blue and gold, sure they look nice but are nothing more than a small extra.

Secondly there's the Clark County scenery set. I've personally not used it much if at all, though I know other people have gotten some good use out of it. Regardless, more building pieces are always welcome.


Now onto both the best and worst part of this pack, the species!

We got 2 pretty good new additions and 2 resold species that leave the most bitter of tastes in my mouth.

Let's start with the good, Protoceratops, this iconic little bugger has been a long time coming and its execution is immaculate. I'm surprised it took this long but I'm so happy the sheep of the Cretaceous is finally here!

Then there's the Guanlong, featuring great skins and a fantastic feathery coat, though I'm peeved at its lack of unique sound design. It also feels a little half baked compared to the other small carnivores but it's still a good species nevertheless!

Now onto the 2 resold species, Concavenator and Thanatosdrakon, I don't have any good words to say about their appearances here so you can check out my JWE 2 reviews for my stand-alone thoughts on them.

When this Deluxe Edition was revealed it had barely been a year since we paid for the Thanatosdrakon in JWE 2, the improvements made to it and Concavenator do not justify slapping a whole new price tag on them, let alone the ludicrous price tag of this "Deluxe" Upgrade Pack.

it's shameful, like how dare you Frontier, how utterly dare you, this better not set the standard for future DLCs.


Regardless, the final piece of content in this pack is a Mosasaurus variant, not sure why they labeled it as a skin. It's basically Mosasaurus but with actually good skins and probably should've just been a basegame overhaul.


If I were you, I'd avoid this pack like the plague unless you get it on a massive discount, what an insult to DLC supporting players this pack is.
