The Good
-- YOU are the boss. Nothing can stop you if you know how to use your abilities. The more you play the game, the more you develop a sense of superiority over the humans; you gain the mindset of an apex predator unlike anything seen before.
-- Addictive, satisfying gameplay that really makes you feel like a horror movie monster. There are so many ways to kill the humans or overcome their traps, and they are all highly satisfying.
-- Multiple play styles; you could decide to be stealthy and cautious, or you could decide to burst into a room and tear everything to shreds in a matter of seconds, even if you take a hit or two.
-- Amazing music. Often reminds me of Upgrade or Venom.
-- The game doesn't waste your time with an uninteresting and needlessly involved story. The developers knew that a story in a game like this would be largely ignored; you're provided just enough to add a healthy amount of substance and background, without overwhelming you with things you couldn't care less about.

The Bad
-- It's incredibly easy to get lost. The facility is huge, everywhere looks the same, and there aren't many landmarks to help you find your way around. Also, there's almost nothing to tell you where exactly you need to go next; It very quickly becomes a matter of asking yourself, "WHERE DO I GO?!"
-- The parts where you relive a random human's memories are tedious and break the flow of the game. It's like the parts of the Assassin's Creed games that force you to stop jumping from rooftops and start walking around an office or lab, doing nothing exciting at all.
-- By the time you become as powerful as possible, you're about 80% through the game. This isn't uncommon among games, but it still amazes me how overlooked this issue is—it makes no sense for the players or the designers; hours are spent designing and programming abilities the player gets to enjoy for maybe the last half-hour of the game. A better structure (IMO) for a game like this would be to allow the player all the possible powers by about halfway through the game, leaving the second half of the game to revolve more around strategy and skill using the powers you worked so hard to unlock.

All things considered, the game is amazing, and I can't stop playing.

Great game but desperately needs an update.

Let me first say that aim assist for mouse-driven aiming is completely unnecessary to begin with, but when the "aim assist" randomly cranked itself up to 11 and changing the setting did nothing to stop this, the game became almost unplayable. I don't even need to be aiming; just looking around with any gun equipped causes my cursor to get stuck on any and every bad guy in town. This would be marginally better if it got stuck on their heads or something, but it always goes to some terrible spot to shoot a guy, like the toes or the butt. No matter how hard I move the mouse, the cursor stays there until it feels like moving. I heard that the Caps Lock key engages aim assist (why?) so I tried pressing that, and it made no difference at all. And that's not all I tried.

1. I tried reloading a checkpoint. No difference.
2. I tried restarting the game. No difference.
3. I tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it. No difference.
4. I tried restarting my PC. No difference.
5. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling not just the game but UPlay (AKA Ubisoft Connect) again. No difference.
6. I tried going into an XML file the game uses to store settings and preferences and altering the hecking CODE and then made said file read-only so the game would be forced to keep the aim assist inactive. And guess what? NO DIFFERENCE.

Also, my antivirus software quarantined a file during the Ubisoft Connect installation... interesting...

I am a huge fan of the original Thief trilogy. They are some of my favorite games, and in particular, I feel that Thief 3: Deadly Shadows is an absolute masterpiece. This game is only decent at best if you are just looking for a stealth game. But as a Thief game, it is pretty disappointing. I don't know why, but they seemed to simply remove everything that was central to the story of the original games.

-Story is weak and gets very bizarre and confusing.
-No Hammerites.
-No Pagans.
-No Keepers.
-No funny conversations between guards. Actually, not really any funny parts of any kind.
-No use of the word "Taff."
-Garrett gets super-powers fueled by opium.
-Gameplay gets repetetive.
-The brothel level is basically porn (which is why many team members quit).
-The game doesn't have the fantasy/medieval setting the other three had.
-The City feels cramped and depressing. Everywhere you go feels like a trashed back alley and it looks like buildings are stacked on top of each other.
-You may rob buildings in the city only ONCE PER GAME.
-The guards in the city have the exact same conversations over and over again, starting them over only about five seconds after they finished.
-The Game crashes randomly.
-Key elements of the plot are left unexplained or only barely explained.
-The whole game looks somber and dreary.
-Lots of hard drive space.
