Overall i love this game. playing this at 4k ultra (on my rtx 2060 super) on a 55 inch tv all in one sitting was by far the greatest looking gaming experience i have ever had. The game was legitimately spooky at times (jumpscares are meh, but builds suspense early in game well). Gun combat is legitimately fun especially in the earlier uses of it, and is the first story game that i am going back for a second run of to enjoy the combat again and maybe explore for more of the collectables.
I do have 2 minor complaints with the game though. for one i feel the tone of the game changes dramatically throughout the game, it starts off kinda like an outlasty defenceless horror game, and by the end is basically just an action adventure game shooting up the blob creatures. it would be much more of an issue to me if i didnt enjoy both of these types of gameplay alot but sometimes at the end i thought to myself "wasnt this supposed to be a horror game?". and my second gripe with the game is that from what i can tell there are plot holes and really weird choices in some of the story telling (like a sticky note of a broken elevator that you witnessed break and the sticky note is from a worker from obviously previously talking about trying to fix it for example.) and how that kind of stuff kinda breaks my immersion.
Overall i loved this game and i got it so late because i hopped on the resident evil train with re2 and 3 remasters and getting ready for the re8 game and i was not disappointed.
