Vampire Survivors with Glory Kills from Doom. Game is smooth, fast paced, and feels good to pick up and play and blast some demons. The 8-bit style is really well done, and it costs less than a happy meal.

I broke the left stick of my controller during a frantic boss fight and had to play the rest of the game on the DPad.

Taking a cue from Shadow of the Collosus this is a game where you, armed with only a bow with a single arrow and the ability to roll and call back your shot after firing it, must kill the Titans. You die in one hit, but fortunately so do the Titans and the battles quickly become a dispute to see who will land the first(and last) blow. Expect to die a lot of times, but the game isn't ballbusting difficut(at least in it's normal mode).

Despite all that, the game is very short, with one playthrough lasting around two hours. Buy at a discounted price or if you're interested in replaying it's alternate modes(Hard Mode, One Life Mode and No Rolling mode),

This game just takes too long to do everything. It's around 2 hours until you finally can use the Paradigms and do something in battle that's not mindless attacking, then around 10 hours of playing with a divided party and it isn't until 20~ hours into the game that you reach something that's not a straight corridor but by that point you don't even care and just want the game to end. And it'll take it's sweet time getting there too.

However, for some bizarre reason I found the characters engaging, even Grumpy Lighting, and how they acted as foils or complemented each other. If I had to give one reason to ever pick this up, it'd be to see their character growth which ends being sort of sweet.

You'll need it.

With the main story clocking at 16 hours, this might be a short sandbox game but it's clearly the most entertaining zombie survival game.

Despite the bloating of the genre, a game with focus on building your fort, scavenging for supplies and managing your survivors still wasn't fully completed. With other takes that try different approaches, like Left4Dead(Full action), Zafehouse(Minimalistic) or The Walking Dead(Full story), there was still an empty slot for a game that mixed the styles and thus this was created.

Managing a single survivor at a time, you try to survive in the infested world. Despite being a zombie game, it takes some liberties with the genre. Bites aren't venomous, and even in story related injuries characters might still survive with an adequate amount of medicine.

Combat is easy, if you're smart. Taking down one or two zombies at a time is a breeze if you haven't been sprinting around depleting your stamina. More than that and your character might get tired, and thus unable to run away and hit or dodge properly. Even then, taking your time and building your survivors will turn them into true zombie killing machines.

Despite all the warnings to not use them, cars are very useful tools and almost essential in taking down Zombie Hordes(group of zombies that threaten your home). Just driving around also isn't a problem, since you can just reverse and take down any pursuers after you get to your location, with minimal damage.

The supplies available for scavenging are finite, but there are still plenty of hotspots for raiding with more than enough to survive your playthrough without any hurdles. You can also upgrade your Homebase to have a Garden(gives food), MedBay(gives medicine) and a Workshop(Repairs cars).

Still, even if the gameplay is top notch, there are still some details that remind you this is a low budget production. Survivors aren't good at opening doors or avoiding obstacles, zombies spawn out of nowhere and the characters all share the same, repetitive lines.

Also, the characterization is shallow and unremarkable. Characters can be(And are) summed in a single sentence, and "bonding missions" are just strolls around zombies infested areas that result in telling your partners to cheer up(If they were sad) or suck it(If they're angry). Losing a survivor fees worst because of the nice stats it had than for who it was, even if Lilly wishes she had more time to know them.

All in all, this The Zombie Survival game, combining all elements all succeeding in most of them.

Very shallow combat and lack of online multiplayer makes this a no-go.

Instead of cutting the griding and making the gameplay a better experience, this game instead makes it easier for you to battle endlessly on the quest for more levels and delivers a shallow story.

A boring cash-in on the Warhammer franchise, this game somehow makes cutting and shooting Orks an incredible dull experience.
