A game that overshadowed every other shooter that came out at the time, Half-Life still holds up as an incredible experience.

A great, convenient way to play all kinds of classic console games.

This soundtrack is fantastic. From the dancy pop of Touch Me And I'll Break Your Face to the face-melting guitars of Inferno, this is one of the all-time greats. And (after a confusing and irritating period where it was deleted off everyone's hard drives) it's available again!






Make a backup, just in case.

A reboot that fails to understand what made the earlier games great.

While it may be quite competent mechanically, Thief (2014) fails to capture one of the most important aspects of the originals - subtle storytelling. The original games allowed you to discover (and miss!) bits and pieces of story throughout each level, gradually letting you figure out what was going on by yourself, making you feel both included in the narrative, and intelligent. By contrast, this title leads you by the nose to each story moment.

The characters are less interesting, the button mashing during disguised loading screens gets old, the city is no longer The City (having lost all of its character)...

It may be prettier, but for a far more satisfying stealth experience, the first three games are much, much better.


Also, ♥♥♥♥ every executive who decides to give a game the same name as the first entry in the series.

A bite-sized heist game that fails to include a heist, but still manages to tell a compelling story.
