In an inventory-management-heavy game:
- There is no system for selecting multiple items/stacks at once. A lot of management functions use a "hold button to execute" function. This is extremely tedious when you want to sell items.
- Augments/cores (Equippable items that give passives and stat bonuses) do not have unique appearances, except those indicating a shell alignment. Shields also do not, as far as those I've encountered.
- Chip mods have seemingly arbitrary shapes that may match between different mod types.
- Attachments have no immediate indication as to what category of weapon they attach to unless the weapon is equipped or if you hover over them to look at the compatibility list.
- A large majority of items do not share a real-world immediate comparison. This is a sci-fi game in a constructed world setting, so this criticism may be not as severe once items are learned.

This adds up to an average of 10% of in-game time being spent selling items or ensuring the correct items are sold. Inscrutability and poor inventory handling in an extraction shooter are not good qualities.

The rest of the game handles like Destiny (but with slower and worse movement). The gunplay and sound design are top-notch (but you cannot utilize said game functions without violating optimal information asymmetry strategy due to genre constraints), the shells have unique abilities (that may be used highly infrequently at base, sometimes with cooldowns above a minute), the aesthetic is incredibly unique (with bad readability and purposefully uncanny protagonist designs).

Every aspect of this game has high quality with a caveat of medium severity or worse. I am still playing in spite of these flaws, so take with that what you will.

There is little quality of life. Welcome to Tau Ceti, where even the menus hate you.

(As a note, please observe the sales and earnings projection of the game, as well as the playerbase activity and longevity predictions, as this is a live service game that can be shut down at any time.)

Excellent art direction and quality, obviously made by a talented studio. Unfortunately, the writing either isn't that good or interesting, or maybe it just doesn't match my tastes.

Beneath layers of easy metaphor, this is a game with a "realistic" horror story to tell. I found the premise very mundane and the game extremely slow due to uninteresting mechanics and without tension due to frequent respawns.

I did not get far, as I was expecting a more interesting premise due to the art direction.

a unique, unexpected sort of terrible that was most likely made with actual intent

poor optimization, little explanation, long load times on small map areas

Exemplar Movement Shooter. The game gives you every option you could want for movement, and then surprises you with perks found through little arena challenges scattered around the world.

Never in any other video game have I hurtled forward at 90mph on a hoverboard into a plasma-shield wielding mercenary, only to turn him into a splatter on the sand as I rocket-jumped into a backflip over a bipedal mech, just to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ drop a grenade down the vent on top of its body, land behind it, and watch it explode.

This all occurred in the span of three and a half seconds.

Buy this damn game.

Early Access Review
It has gotten worse

balance is poor and it has grown distant from what has made it enjoyable.
