When I play the game starts up for a second, before getting to the warning and immediately closes help !!!!

Is there a bug with the shop near the buy who says "You are brokie..." in an early part of the game? I can't buy anything but I have a lot of money. I also can't leave that room, which makes me think I need to do something before I can leave.
