Underrated and over hated.
Is it perfect? Nope. Awful game that doesn't deserve to a Final Fantasy game? Nope.
Music is absoluty amazing, the visuals in this game could pass for a modern AAA game in 2022, the character designs on even the meh characters are fantastic, some of the characters personalities are absolutely phenomenal (Sazh and Fang are two of my favorite FF characters, easily)
Hope and Snow can both be extremely grating, but I don't hate them entirely, either.
Give it a try with an open mind, and don't listen to anyone who says it's a hallway simulator, Final Fantasy X is way more linear than this game, and is widely considered one of the best games in the series.
The games only major flaw is the gameplay loop, especially combat, can grow tiring during long gameplay sessions. I think this game is genuinely the most enjoyable in short bursts, over a long period of time.
Give it a try, it's a genuinely enjoyable Final Fantasy experience, just don't expect too much from it.
7/10 game. It's fine.
