Early Access Review
This has been such a truly wonderful game to explore. The worlds feel really awesome to run around in, fighting new enemies and experimenting with new item combinations. All of the fun of drafting from Magic: The Gathering, to all the fundamentals of a rogue-like. The difficulty of the average run is very challenging and very similar to Dark Souls in how satisfying it is to beat a new boss with a new combination of items. The achievements and challenges are also amazing, unlocking new items to use in runs while unlocking the other achievements is a beautiful experience, through and through. I highly recommend this game, and I can't wait for more content to be released. Phenomenal beginning.

I would liken my experiences with playing this game as a constant stream of dopamine being poured directly onto my noggin. The highest highs are when you achieve a goal or discover a new interaction or combination that works in your favor. Even the lows of a losing round are followed by immediately starting a new game, and beginning the dopamine pour-over anew. Beautiful game. Stoked to play more after I submit this review.

This is was probably one of the single best ways to learn the basics of magic the gathering. The puzzles, campaigns, and deck building are all awesome, the stories and backgrounds using artwork from the game and story is powerful and evocative. For someone looking to get an idea of what magic can be, this whole game offers you an adventure and an experience with a beautiful, simple to grasp, and difficult to master period of the game. Twelve years later and I still highly recommend this specific version of the game, yet I imagine it may now be difficult to play. If you're looking to learn to play on paper, I recommend the Magic: The Gathering Foundations beginner box. If you'rel looking for a digital experience, Arena is your best bet. Magic is much more complicated now than it was twelve years ago, but the game is still beautiful, and the game is extremely immersive. The baggage and barrier of entry has increased, leaving Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 in my memory as one of the most straightforward ways to learn the game I experienced, alongside the Ninth edition two-player starter deck.

Amazing game play, unique aesthetic, highly replayable. Loving every hour I spend in this game. Really awesome stuff, there's some quirky issues that will likely be worked out in future updates, but it's interesting the way you're made to use the in-game resources like the book to try to work through puzzles.

Owned the game for 24 hours and logged 12 in that time, super great game. I loved yugioh as a kid and played a lot of hearthstone and magic growing up. This game combines elements from DND as well as card games to make a unique experience that really translates well into a single player dungeon crawl. I thought I had already seen every combination of strategies available having watched streamers plow through this title before, but playing and developing strategies for myself revealed that there was more available than I had previously imagined.

Super reasonable one-time price for hours and hours of gameplay with IMMENSE replay value. Highly recommend to anyone who likes card games or is looking to get better at drafting.
