Yes, i used hammer.
Unfortunately i dont think i can teach it to you directly since it took me several years to learn it myself, and im not really a good teacher... plus the fact i currently dont really make source engine stuff anymore.

also, one word of advice that helped me the most to learn how to make great maps:
do NOT listen to a word anybody from the TWP/bee2/etc. clique says. do the opposite. experiment. try new things. dont be afraid to do things in hammer that some very vocal people will trash you for.
the only way to get better is to ignore the naysayers.
Hammer mapmaking can be an extremely fun and fulfilling hobby, even if its difficult to learn at first, so im happy to hear you are interested in it.
