NEW: Steamworks Wishlist Data API

In summer 2025, we introduced programmatic access to sales data. Today, we’re expanding that functionality with a new Wishlist Data API, providing access to wishlist metrics for all of your titles on Steam. Read on for more information, or go dive into the GetAppWishlistReporting documentation.

API Description

The Wishlist Data API uses the same financial permissions system as the Sales Data API, making it straightforward to integrate into your existing analytics pipeline.

In addition to providing overall wishlisting totals and country-level breakdowns, this API also introduces wishlist totals by language for the first time, enabling more granular analysis of localization and regional performance.

Permissions

IPartnerFinancials APIs require the use of a Financial API Group; instructions for provisioning a Financial API Group Web API Key can be found here. Financial API Groups have access to all apps on a partner account and cannot be scoped to individual apps like a typical partner group.

Requests and Responses

GetAppWishlistReporting is called for a single appid on a single date, and returns all wishlist data for that date. Detailed documentation, including data types, error responses, and expected result forms, can be found here.

Update Frequency

Data is updated regularly, typically within a few hours of users adding items to their wishlists. During periods of heavy store activity (such as major seasonal sales), update frequency may be slower.

Historical data is rarely modified after publication. In most cases, querying a date a few hours after the day has concluded will return the final values. Repeatedly querying completed dates is unnecessary and may trigger rate limiting. Excessive repeated requests may result in restrictions being applied to your Web API key.
