Loved this game. It's up there with RDR2 for best game I've ever played.

Barely any content in the game it's all DLC. Nearly 30 bucks to play Wood Elves lmao. Greedy

No end game besides a grind to 5 mil or you get left behind. Multiple gamebreaking exploits. Unrewarding questline. Massive Dsync with getting hit behind walls common. Trigger nade spam is awful meanwhile nades like tagging nade are obsolete. Guns like the Bettina are worse than whites. Missing simple QOL features like overall stash value, ability to quickcraft loadouts, ect. Slurs are rampant in coms and exploiters are everywhere so Embark is not active with their reports.

Game I paid money for now given away free and turned into spyware. Massive L by Gearbox. I'm even more sure I won't be buying Borderlands 4.

The game is riddled with bugs and glitches that will lose you hours of progress. The worst hit registry I have ever seen in any online video game, you have to actually aim to miss in front of dinos to actually hit. They have been around for years, Wildcard will never fix these issues. Hackers are rampant and will blow up your progress. They have stopped fixing bugs, supporting servers or adding content to force people into buying the 90 dollar remastered version when they told us it would be free and we would have ARK 2 by now. They also plan to charge for community made mods. They dumped millions of dollars that could have been invested into fixing theirs games, keeping promises about free content and reaching deadlines into a show that literally has no plan or future that can potentially recoup the millions. They have made poor choice after poor choice and now it's the playerbase paying for it. If you plan on playing ARK online, dont get it unless you are cool with paying 15 dollars a month for a private server. At it's core the taming and progression are great pieces to a video games, but the constant glitching and bugs and hitreg that have been around forever and the recent moves by Wildcard have left me with a very sour taste in my mouth about the game/developer. After buying ark and multiple DLC I can't envision myself giving a cent to this company unless ARK 2 comes out great. Which after multiple delays and the Wildcard looking pathetic trying to scrape every cent they can from fans I highly doubt.

Fun game that I have enjoyed, but so many glaring issues. Why do enemy archer have unlimited arrows while mine have 10? Why is the combat log so bad? Why are 6 dire wolves attacking and wiping my 11 man group of lv 3s - 4s on medium difficulty? Why are my guys not running directly out and getting caught in stupid ways after using retreat? I could go on and on. Game NEEDS a workshop bad, so many issues for a 6 year old game. This is one of those games where you put hours into cause it could be really fun but the majority of the times you are miserable and frustrated.

Edit - After a couple years and 20 more hours in the game I decided to change my review to positive. The Dev continues to put out content and while the combat still feels pretty clunky and there are still issues you can get a bunch of fun out of the game. Performance has largely been improved as well.

Old Review - Not worth 20 dollars, maybe 10. The combat is fun for a while but there are only a few maps and the weapons all feel the same just with varying levels of effective range and damage. The rogue-lite aspect of the game is so grindy it's virtually nonexistent. You gain such minimal increases after 5 hours of playing my new characters feels the same. Early rounds everyone are bullet sponges since wooden weapons do no damage, then late rounds you cant hit anyone without being counter hit for half your health. Interactions with the patrons are the same every run, there is no variety. To top it off the game is not optimized at all, the load screens load so fast I cant read the messages then the game stutters horribly in fights with a lot of people meanwhile I can run games like Elden Ring fine. I even had stutters in the tutorial.

Really enjoyed this game. Great story where you are given the freedom to adventure where you want and in whatever order suits your needs. The variety of encounters and enemies kept the game fresh and exciting to keep exploring. I did have to play through twice as my first play through I ran out of days before achieving everything I wanted so my only advice would be to quick save before every day so if you accidentally waste time by moving somewhere you don't need to go you can redo the day to be more efficient.

Luck based game with 0 improvement since I bought it years ago, not a dev I want to support. I regret buying this game.
