260 hours without mods and another fifty with them and this game still sucks.

Battle Brothers is great, the graphics are beautifull and gory with an almost rustic touch, the world is incredibly unique, being mystical and terrifying in how rough everything is and it has no fear of shoving it in your face. I'd describe it's gameplay as simple but with a nuance to it, actions are mostly just where to walk and who to hit, but mistakes are costly and the line between victory and defeat is thin. In Battle Brothers though defeat is frequent it mostly isn't final, you are after all, running the band, it's a bussines and you are here to make money, sometimes leaving your men to die is the best call, maybe they became a burden by asking for that pay raise, or they lost an eye and can't hit the side of a barn, if you play enough of this game you can start seeing their lives in a cold distant way that only upper management would recognize. That said it is, mostly, optional, since the games allows savescumming wich helps because sometimes your guy is just too damn important. This game is very customizable and there is no wrong way to play, i can't recommend enough the Legends mod and maybe the Breditor mod too if you feel like creating your own Bros.

This game is so good that it naturally forces you to learn its mechanics and explore the world. I don't remember feeling so motivated to master a game before I started playing BB. This is a hard game, and the journey to mastery is long—very long. But I accepted the challenge, and I play BB every single day. It's awesome.

This is the first game in my life that makes me feel like playing it forever. It is made for infinite replayability. I think the RNG mechanic is well-polished, and the whole equipment and combat positioning system makes every decision important. The game is very punishing: a mistake can cost a bro, and a bad decision can make your funds disappear. It’s a game where you need to think carefully before acting, and I love that.

This is one of my favorite games of all time.
