When a game develops over many years, but then none of those developments make it into the next installation, the feeling you're left with is very much of questioning what happened; Did a different team make it? Why did this team not build on what was already made? Why even call it the next installation, and not just a new name if the game is not going to build on what existed?

Only small maps, enemy settlers being destroyed instead of stolen, poorly planned UI, autosaves being limited to 10, no ability to quickly restart the game with the same settings if you didn't like the starting position, and the list goes on and on. If you were not going to focus on adding more on to the game, but also removed a bunch of things, then why even call it the same name? If the progress you've made is getting thrown out the window regardless, why invite the association and the expectations that comes with it in the first place?

Basic logic is missing in Sid Meier's these days is what it seems like. A 3 year re-skin that's been reset to the starting position is what this game amounts to in its current state, without mods or another few years of development and a support.

The more I play it the more I hate it. I can level my leaders?? Wtf are you even talking about, WHY WOULD I EVER WANT ONE OF MY PREVIOUS GAMES TO HAVE ANY EFFECT ON ANOTHER ONE? DID I NOT JUST DECIDE TO RESTART AND CREATE A NEW UNIVERSE?? No, no, no. Instead now they're somehow all connected and affecting each other. The fact I can't refund this BS is grating as F.

I liked the simplicity while hinging on a winning concept.

The game has been out quite a while now but somehow the devs still haven't figured out 1v1 is the way to go for this game outside premade. It has a huge toxicity problem, and population of russians, but somehow they don't realize hostile chat from an opponent is just banter while hostile chat from a teammate is a red flag and you're about to waste 25 minutes on a loss.

Of course they do have 1v1, it comes around every once in a while, maybe 1 week every 3 months. Yay, what a week.

Then back to losing 75% of games where you make your opponent leak, could easily handle every wave your teammate leaks, and still lose the game because he is even more outmatched by his counterpart.

How fun, losing even when you're winning. Especially when you communicate the whole game and seem to speak to an AI.

Great game, very few and hardly noticable bugs. Just update your drivers. 6 year old rig.

I love this game, it has everything I want from a strategy game and has only been improving over time. Also a fantastic mod community and lore behind it. I have also bought and highly appreciated every DLC.

With that said they did my favorite book character so wrong in the latest DLC. It was so bad that I had to return it. I already turned sour when Skaven, the only faction I really don't like playing, was getting a new lord squeezed into what seemed like every other pack, with another one being added now as an opposite to my favorite of all time, despite Malus never having had any special history with the disgusting rats.

On top of that the campaign starts off with your lord being nowhere near his city, which I guess is supposed to feel original but instead just felt extremely tired since he was still surrounded by Exactly the same enemies as the Dark elves in Naggarond... Rats, lizards and skeletons, the most boring factions to face (but not to play) and a big reason why the Dark elves are one of my least played campaigns despite my loving their lore so much.

And the most significant part of Malus' story - (spoiler) Him being so hungry for status and power that when he fails to get it he makes a deal with a devil and ends up being controlled by Malekith - Has already played out... You are already possessed by Tz'arkan, Malekith already has you under his thumb and has already sent you to the end of the world on some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ errand of his.

You never get to play the conniving, ambitious and selfish adventurer with some growing up to do that you fall in love with in the books. All the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ things have already happened. You were given no choice and you're expected to enjoy struggling out of it. Except there is no out, only an everlasting struggle until eventually succumbing. And Malus' defiant personality feels like strictly for show, since your every action is in the service of someone else.

Woop-dee-doo. I feel so legendary, so in control, not. I'm fine ending up there through mistakes or just the campaign story ingame, but starting there? Made me want to yell ♥♥♥♥ OFF, at the screen and shut the game off.

That's not what Malus is about. I really hope they completely remake his entire campaign, and give him a real nemesis. One where you get to do the failing, rather than it having already happened.

That they will do so for TW:WH2 is extremely unlikely, but if this is still the state of Malus come TW:WH3 I will be severely disappointed that I never get to play my favorite character in my favorite game in a way that I find acceptable. Just 2 cents.

More depth than one would expect so early in a games lifespan. I was pleasantly surprised and have kept coming back for a couple more hours for months now despite big industry name games coming and going like flavors of the week!
