Take The Dream IX is quite unique from other Yai Gameworks titles as it is the only game that for the most part utilizes default assists from RPG Maker MV, but then blends in the horror that one would expect. However, the story is very complex, and a bit disconnected at times though that’s probably the purpose. The only real character we see get development is Gwen outside of the moments with Kaito, Luna, and Freya giving pieces of their lore. Sections of the game make no cohesive sense at times and lack much depth to them other than MAYBE the section with Demon King.

Would I recommend this game to people?

Yes, and here’s why.

Even though this is a rough game, it does do one thing exceptionally well. The chaotic organization of this game showcases a certain level of creative freedom that would come from a dream. Usually dreams shift around what the story is about or the current situation much like how the game changes the longer you play it. Not only that, but dreams also replicate the feeling of want and how reality sometimes denies you. Flora was the one thing that you could never get, and because you wanted her that much, you could never wake up.
