This game is not my typical genre, and pretty much every game I play is like a decade old. BUT, when I saw a few memes about this game on TikTok, I have to say I was genuinely intrigued. I stopped looking at it online so I could be surprised when I played it.

I love that it’s fully voice acted, it really adds an extra level of quality to the game. I love the concept in general, it definitely separates itself from your average dating sim. I absolutely love the character designs, it’s really cool to see how each object plays into the characters look. It’s also been really fun trying to find everybody hiding around my house.

Not sure what this says about me as a person, but I was instantly smitten with Volt & Eddie , as well as Deamon . I guess I like damaged goods?

This leads me to my single gripe with the game so far. Overall, the game is really good about giving the player multiple dialogue options and letting the player respond in varying ways depending on their playstyle. I had not encountered a conversation where I actively disliked all of the dialogue options. So it was extremely disheartening and sad when I got to the final act with Volt & Eddie only to be met with a single, cruel, dialogue choice that completely went against how I had been playing up to this point. Basically, the two are scared to lose one another if the wiring gets fixed (long story), and in that moment of turmoil and despair, the player is met with a single dialogue choice, “If I fix the wire, you won’t really need both of you though, right?” and I literally yelled “NO! I don’t wanna say that!” at my computer! But barring quitting the game, there was nothing else I could do, so I chose that option... and now Volt & Eddie ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate me (valid considering what I said, honestly). I was super super disappointed, and it felt out of character for the game thus far, as it has given me plenty of options in the past. The game auto saves, and unfortunately, I was having so much fun meeting all my objects that I forgot to save recently, loading my earlier save would send me far far back and I was pretty sure I had already met Volt& Eddie and might’ve already ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the dialogue tree anyways (this sucks, as I had already met about 80 dateables this point and started their various storylines). Had I known clicking the only dialogue option would lead to the hate ending, I would’ve quit the game and come back later when my stats were higher (although I don’t know if that would’ve changed anything by this far in the storyline for this dateable).

I didn’t like that the game thought I wanted Eddie gone or thought one of them wasn’t needed. Just because I hadn’t been interacting with Eddie that much doesn’t mean I don’t like the guy! I followed him the first night he literally told me in no uncertain terms to ♥♥♥♥ off… I went when the club was closed and he told me to ♥♥♥♥ off… so I don’t think me keeping my distance was a miscalculation or a judgement misstep on my part. He clearly wanted his space, asked clearly for it, and I let him have it (you think I wanna get on my power grid’s bad side??). Volt was always nice and charming, so I don’t think it’s weird I wanted to talk with him, so I kept coming by to see him. I thought Eddie would warm up to me if I was good to Volt, cause it’s very clear they care for each other, even at the beginning when they’re hiding it. I’m assuming you need to follow Eddie more and get him to open up instead of Volt, or raise your stats to get a better option. I’m not sure, but I will be finding out!

So, I did go on Reddit, and it looks like there is a way to reverse hate endings, but I definitely have to raise my stats before that; and this made me realize the game isn’t as forgiving as I thought it was. There were also other players talking about the same gripe with this storyline, so I guess I’m happy I’m not the only one who unintentionally went down the wrong path. I really just wish I didn’t have to say something SO cruel, even if I had still gotten the hate ending. I know it’s stupid, but even if I persist and fix my relationship with them in my original save, I’m still gonna feel bad for implying that one of them is worthless in the first place. It put a bad feeling in my tum-tum. Volvo plz fix.

I have started a new save, and I’m being a lot more mindful and careful with what I say and who I interact with. I don’t want to meet someone too early and pigeonhole myself into a bad ending because I wanted to talk to them too early or often.

I know I’ve harped only on one specific choice, but it’s really been my only negative interaction with the game so far. Like I said, the character designs, voice acting, gameplay, and mechanics are all awesome. I would def recommend it even if you’re not a dating sim person, the writing itself is worth it. Thank you, dev team and others, for making this game. I'm really enjoying it, but please don't force me to say super out of pocket ♥♥♥♥.

P.S. Before anyone says "its really not that deep," I'd like to remind you this game is asking you to converse and empathize with the thoughts, dreams, and feelings of household objects; don't blame me for engaging with the story in earnest!

If you got this far, thank you for listening to my ramblings about my relationship with a virtual personified fuse box.

This is the best Sims game in my opinion, its especially better than the current installment, the base game comes with everything you'll need, the various expansions will only add to your game! It's easy to mod and download custom content for, so there's always ways to spice up your game. If you're looking for a few good DLCs to start out with I would highly recommend the Pets expansion to add cats, dogs, horses and small pets, it can really add a lot to the game, another good on is the Supernatural pack, it adds a bunch of spooky items and new playable species, like vampires, werewolves, and wizards, lastly the Generations pack adds a lot of depth to family interactions, making weddings more complex and allowing for more interactions between parents and kids. Overall it's a solid game and the best in the franchise, I highly recommend it to any fan of life simulations.

I've been playing this game for about 5-6 years, it's fun, it keeps me coming back over and over again. The community can seem a little toxic, but there's also some dope people on here. I didn't use my mic in the first coupld years (cause I'm a woman and that just opens the door for harassment), but when using it recently theres only been a few bad expiriences, and those become less year after year. It's old, the physics are a little wonky, but it has a lot of charm and it's fun to play.
