Went into the game with high expectation, based on what reviews I've read. Here's the breakdown:
  • beautiful world
  • interesting glimpses of game's mythos (most were unexpected to me); I'd love to see more of the same world/universe
  • once you get past the idea of controlling two characters at once, mechanics/puzzles are rather simple
  • some puzzle sequences were annoying due to the need to keep holding left & right triggers for prolonged periods
  • story sadly didn't move me; I kept expecting something to go horribly wrong, which took me out of the world
  • the only bit that hit me, was towards the end of the game, where you had to use dead brother's controls; that was a nice touch

It seems games can lately only pull on our emotional strings by going to the one extreme they know, death of a character. Once you keep that in mind, the illusion is somewhat broken. As another rewiever mentioned, made up language didn't help here, instead it left me feeling alienated from the characters.

Only recommending this game because of its shortness and eye candy. If that doesn't sound like your schtick, pass it.

[Playtime was around 3 hours, the extra hour is due to game running in the background.]

This is the best piece of software that ever happened to multiple monitor setup. I've been using an odler version for quite some time, and upgrading to this one was a minor revelation. Very much recommended!

Loved the story, the art style and most of the voice acting. It's a bit short, but oh so strong in its plot delivery. The soundtrack adds really well to the overall atmosphere.

I've read somewhere that this game is best played on a rainy afternoon, with a cup of hot tea. Instead of reading a short story, I encourage you to experience The Charnel House Trilogy - it'll be worth it ;)

D:OS has come a long way from the humble (yet already promising) alpha. The last two days it was nearly impossible to stop playing it (GOG.com version, btw, don't let "hours played" on Steam fool you). This isn't just an ode to great isometric RPGs of old, it's an upgrade, their natural evolution. Interesting mechanics, massive world, really tough enemies (you will die and you will die a lot; I can promise you that much), amazing music and enough Larian's trademark goofiness to keep you entertained for many many hours. Recommended.

This console port is broken. I dare say it's the worst port I've seen in a long time. For a lot of people the game won't even start, and most of the fixes (that are community based, since WB apparently doesn't care about paying customers) don't neccessarily work (that was true in my case for instance). Then there's problem with lag and the way multiplayer is handled etc. Check out the community discussions and you'll see what I mean.

tl;dr: this port is a complete lottery. It might work, but is your money really worth the gamble?

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I can't remember when have I last enjoyed a game quite as much as I'm enjoying this one! Fighting is great, story has heart, humor doesn't feel out of place and forced like in so many games, art & voice acting are amazeballs... And there are challenges, can't forget those. I'll definitely be replaying this one! ;)
