Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition is the definitive experience for longtime fans and newcomers featuring previously released DLC content. It's the ninth main installment in the franchise and reboot after the chaotic events of Armageddon. To say that this game is a near masterpiece would be putting it lightly because it's one of the last of its kind. The bygone era of what Mortal Kombat used to be has been compiled into this literal bloody cinematic rollercoaster.

Following the events of Armageddon, to an extent, Raiden is about to die during a battle with Shao Kahn and spares the last of his energy to potentially change the past and future by sending a message to his 1992 counterpart. That's right, old-school Raiden suddenly gains knowledge of this dire outcome during the events of the original Mortal Kombat and desperately attempts to change everything. But his journey becomes complicated as even past events begin to unfold different through violence, turmoil and sacrifices.

Make no mistake, this entry isn't merely a renditioning of the first installment. It's a complete innovative makeover of the ENTIRE original trilogy featuring classic stages, characters, and fatalities hardcore fans would instantly appreciate. Every nook and cranny has been completely redesigned, modernized and utilized to their fullest potential in this epic retelling. The fights are intense, the violence is horrifying, the soundtrack is exciting, the acting is outstanding, the difficulty can get unhinged, the replay value is unforgettable, and I loved every moment of playing it!

Unfortunately, at the time of this review, it's been delisted due to licensing issues but previous owners are required to emphasize how much of an impact this had on the series in 2011. Due to the ownership of WB, console owners were only capable to use Kratos (God of War) and Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare on Elm Street) together or separately depending on their preferred platform. Thankfully this port still retains the extra content and could be replayed endlessly as long as you're an owner who didn't miss out.

It's not just your grandparent's renditioned nostalgia ride - it's a flawless victory.
