Bite sized NUCOM at a bite sized price.

I had a hard time clicking with newer XCOM titles for a while. I was too used to the gameplay of oldcom, time units, making sure I had enough time to prime and throw a grenade in the same turn, treating my soldiers like expendable assets; the usual oldcom formula. Something about the new games failed to stick with me for a long time, but I still picked this up.

It ended up being a great decision on my part, because after spending some time with Chimera Squad, something "clicked". I grasped the formula. I understood. And then I went back and played both modern XCOM titles, and this time enjoyed my experience. So for that, Chimera Squad has earned a place in my heart.

If you're a struggling grognard and want to know what the fuss is about with the newer XCOM titles, look no further. Chimera Squad is an excellent entry point. If you're experienced with modern XCOM titles and are wondering if this is worth a buy, you'll want to know that this is a game with a much smaller scope and feature set.

Upon launch this game had some terrible crashing issues, and while those have been ironed out, a lot of the jankiness is still there and often manifests in animation glitches. But there's enough love and passion put into the game for me to overlook it. Chimera Squad moves the plot of XCOM 2 forward in a meaningful way that I would hate to see abandoned if (or when) XCOM 3 comes out.

Good old cataclysm with a sensible development and design direction. This version, like all others, is available for free on Github. But I don't mind throwing the developer a few dollars for her hard work. Wormgirl has, and continues to do a fantastic job with The Last Generation, and I continue to look forward to what comes next!

I highly recomend this to new and old Cataclysm players a like

People running modern 64-bit systems may find themselves victim of a rather frequent crash upon saving. This is easily fixed by installing David Pistelli / ntcore's 4GB patcher. Just run the tool and select the .exe found in the game's steamapps folder.

This game is the best in its class even a decade later, and I'm ashamed its sat in my backlog for so long. I've been having a blast despite my limited familiarity with the genre. The visuals hold up, the sound design is on point, and the community modding and map editing scene is still alive due to the robust level editing tools included with the game. If you are at all considering the game, which I'd assume you are given you're reading this review, I highly recommend it.

Some of the most fun I've had with Rain World in recent times, period. The Watcher has managed to recapture the same knowledge based sense of progression that is undoubtedly one of Rain World's biggest strengths.

Incredibly fun, fairly challenging, and visually gorgeous.

Well worth the purchase if you're one of "those" people. Yeah, I'm looking at you, "games where you can play as an animal" googlers. I know who you are.

Incredibly fun with a small group of friends. Go in blind. We spent a whole afternoon moving our base onto the second floor and somehow it was still a blast. Development is active and ongoing, and doesn't show any sign of slowing down

With the release of Downpour this game finally found its intended audience: People who read Warrior Cats as kids and got way, way too into it, and people with that autism that makes you want to be a wild beast instead of being good at math.

Wouldn't have it any other way. This game gave me feelings.

Extremely fun, even for people who aren't big fans of horror. Of course, this game is best with friends but the public lobbies and overall community is extremely welcoming.
