This game is what I would call a "Play Later when extremely important issues are adressed and mostly resolved" game.

Positives :

The game up to the endgame (The Deep Desert) is actually I think really good ! There is clearly a lack of endgame activities but overall you can dump 2 weeks in that game on the PvE side and have a blast, just be prepare to a survival experience which is actually more of a "I'm scared help", not for the water or fight npcs parts which you figure out quickly, but for the actual sandworms.

Not a Dune Purist at all, the story is like correct I think, it's not the most fleshed out narrative out there clearly but it's not a nightmare either, which is a lot compared to current games.

Cons :

The game has A LOT of stability issues : network and DNS failing to connect, way too much lag at server restarts (the worst I've ever seen at all from everything on the internet I've experienced), players being unable to connect for days straight because of server errors, servers not appearing in lists, crashs between server change (between major seetlements, the PvE area and the Deep Desert) that would litteraly delete your vehicule from the game, crashes while flying a copter which results in a permanent vehicule stuck in the air impossible to get back but taking one of your limited vehicule slots... I haven't even brushed the surfaces of bugs, whever I have directly seen/experienced them, or reported in the global discord for the game.

Also, the game has, again, no definitive endgame activities apart for the Deep Desert, a procedurally generated map (except for like the first 1/9th of it) which changes every mondays with the event of the Coriolis Storm. The problem I have with this place is that it is, for half parts, the bottom part entirely dedicated to PvE (at the exception of a few islands and major shipwrecks), this half part having almost no ressources, compared to the other part of the DD, the top half, which is fully PvP enabled, and have a lot more ressources, like I would not be kidding to say x12 more ressources. I am not a PvP focused gamer, that's a fact, but I think that locking away endgame ressources and crafts behind forced PvP or excruciately long respawn timers for very little "safe" ressources wouldn't be fair, for neither communities actually. PvE players don't want a part of the game locked behind PvP, and I'm pretty sure the PvP guys would be bored by having content locked behind PvE.

Which will make me go to my next point : the community. Both sides, PvP and PvE, are extremely at odds with each others, and it's not civil fights either, it's like civil unrest at this point, whever in game or on chat plateforms. Both sides litteraly are not able to get along, the PvE side is tired for being unable to play the game at endgame, and lashes out quite litteraly at PvPers (I feel myself in this, and I'm sorry for the lashouts), and the PvP guys are just... not open to PvE players, like really hostiles to newcomers.

I will bring that communities differ depending on the server you are playing on : some have +60 people guilds and fight tirelessly and others (like mine) are way more friendly and you can see 13 solos farming on a big spice field in a fully PvP zone where not a bullet, not a shield, not a rocket is launched in the whole duration of the spice field. It's a really really random experience, do get in contact with people already playing the game to give you ideas on servers that are better suited for your type of gameplay.

And finally, we have A LOT of griefers and cheaters. There is unfortunately a LOT of them around, and with the game already feeling like Rust in terms of endgame, it's really tiring, and for everyone, not only PvE players, but PvP players too. What you can except is vehicule hijacks (ownership takeover), hyper speed (copters moving at x10 your own speed), almost endless rockets, and just a bad behavior across some groups, which actively hunts for solos and only solos (but like we are talking a solo getting ganked by 3-15 people), campers waiting to kill others outside of testing stations and shipwreck, our closest similar thing to dungeons, and most of all : denyers. They are not coming for your loot, they are not coming to rob you, they want only to avoid you getting anything, and if you have something, take you down to make your stuff and flying vehicules eaten by the sandorms. These same guys want to make it so impossible to play the endgame that you buy from them those ressources. At least there is some PvP guys that sell their services against a little of your farm, like you can go farm spice and they'd actively escort and protect you for the whole trip farm and back, for what ? 1/5 of your farm ? But yeah, the deep desert is actually a real, VERY REAL experience about full on piracy, whever by cheating or by being a morally questionnable person.

TLDR ; Game is good until endgame which become very tricky for no-PvP gamers, has a lot of stability/network/cheaters issues, and the community is eating itself alive faster than the sandworms spawn on a spice field with 10 peoples making a lot of sound. Come back later, maybe the game can get out of this, we'll see.
