I wanted to like this. I loved the game as a child and even replayed it, the DLC, and community modules several times in my adult life.

This didn't scratch the itch. I think the plot felt off because it was in fact a continuation of an existing story rather than letting the player and writer start fresh. Returning characters from the original campaign didn't actually feel like returning characters with the rushed crash courses on their backstories and somewhat off dialogue. Scull's writing is good but this needed to be built as something other than The Hero of Neverwinter's story continuing.

HOWEVER, I will recommend this because here is proof positive that this game is still a joy. The toolset can let anyone tell their stories even 22 years later. Maybe the engine is a mess but it's our janky mess. This very clearly is a love letter to the entire community that has surrounded this game for decades. Even if it's not my favorite I'll still play this module over again, because of the care poured into it.

Screaming guards, hungry rats, small children, and supernatural powers. This game is a real treat for any fan of stealth games or any fan of combat games. It's story driven and the world of Dunwall is rich and captivating.

95/100 A+

There are games that touch your heart and mind.
Games that make you think about life.
Some games help you to dream.

This is not one of those games.

When you hop into a game of magicka armed with your trusty staff and sword you had best be prepared to compose a litany of rage and frustration on the fly. Bring your umbrella: the forcast is unrepentant teamkilling with a rain of blood, a flood of gore and later on it might just hail giblets. Traverse the world to master the secrets of magic. Or just turn the starting quest into a battle royale.

Loved this game so much that I often fell asleep during the summer because I played it so often. Beautiful graphics and stunning world-building, however there is the danger that you will forget your main quest or will pass out and wake up 3 hours later, with keyboard face, to the sound of a very angry dragon.

Honestly it could use some work to make you care, to make you want to do the main quest. There is no concequence for waiting a month to solve an "urgent" matter.

Not as advanced as most RPGs but it is a FANTASTIC game to play when bored. Take over the world, fight for a lord or overthrow a king! I hope you brought your favorite lance and your horse's best tack for this adventure!
