I started to play this game in 2020, and I can safely say that the current state of the game is terrible and unless you got 3 more friends to play with, you can pretty much forget playing the survivor side. Most of the survivors you encounter in solo q are either new players, selfish crybabies that will suicide on the first hook as soon as they gets downed, or they'll just try to sabotage the game for you by trolling you and the team. Their weak mentalities pretty much ruin the survivor side. And how do they get punished exactly? Oh...wait, they don't, because the report system is a joke and doesn't do anything unless someone is blatantly cheating.

As for playing the killer, you'll either encounter a coordinated SWF group that will have a gen rush build and the game will be over in less than five minutes or you'll get the ego survivors who'll just run after you and try to get themselves killed so they can leave the game.

This game has a lot of perks, but 90% of them are useless and pretty much no one uses them, just look up what meta perks are and get those. Forget going for funny meme builds in solo queue, your team will troll you for It or the killer is going to tunnel you the moment they realize you don't have anti-tunnel perks.

Now, the maps, some are good and some are terrible. The ones that really need changes (in my opinion) are swamp, garden of joy, eyerie of crows and maybe haddonfield.

Now, the community. So, I started to play this game after playing a lot of Team Fortress 2 and I thought the tf2's community was toxic, but no, dbd's community just surpasses all levels of toxicity. I've had many people wishing death on me and my family because I didn't play the way they wanted, some even commented on my screenshots and steam reviews (I'm glad anon mode exists). Of course not everyone is like this, sure there are chill and mature people who don't take this game seriously, but they are rare to find.

And just to finish, let's have a word about the in game shop. Some years ago the devs decided to add limited time cosmetics, that's right, If you want to spend money in their already overpriced shop you can only do so for a limited time. The devs said they wouldn't do this but they did It anyway against our wishes.

Even with these issues I still love this game at its core, but with changes that have been done over the years, the game is losing it's charm. It's honestly a miracle that it lasted this long. I wish I could recommend this game to people, but I simply can't. Not at this state at least.
