Unfinished User Interface (UI)
The UI feels chaotic and unfinished, almost like an alpha version of the game. The resource icons are outdated, and the menus are cluttered. It's difficult to navigate, which takes away from the overall experience.

Limited Map Variety
At launch, there are only a few map types, and the customization options are severely lacking. The map selection feels uninspired and doesn't offer much variety or strategic depth compared to previous titles in the series.

Lack of Content & Customization
There are some basic features missing, such as detailed tooltips and clear resource values. Many in-game mechanics are not explained well, making it frustrating for new players, and even veterans may find themselves lost without proper guidance.

Era System
The new era system is poorly implemented. The way civilizations drastically change with each era feels inconsistent and jarring. You lose previously gained bonuses, which seems counterintuitive and frustrating, especially when you're investing in specific strategies.

Price-to-Content Ratio
The Deluxe and Founder’s Editions cost between €100 and €130, but the game doesn't deliver enough content or polish to justify the steep price tag. The technical issues and lack of content at launch make it feel like an unfinished product.

Conclusion
Overall, while the game has some great ideas, especially with new mechanics in diplomacy and warfare, Civilization 7 needs significant updates to be on par with its predecessors. Hopefully, future patches will address these issues and unlock the game's true potential.

Magic: The Gathering Arena – A great game with some flaws

Magic: The Gathering Arena (MTG Arena) is a digital version of the popular collectible card game Magic: The Gathering. The game offers a variety of game modes, including Standard, Historic, Brawl, and Limited.

What I like about MTG Arena
  • The game is free to play.
  • New players can start with a free deck and earn cards and other rewards by playing matches and quests.
  • The graphics and gameplay are excellent.
  • MTG Arena is a visually appealing game that runs smoothly.
  • There is a great variety of decks and strategies.
  • MTG Arena offers a wide variety of cards from which players can build their decks. This allows players to develop their own playstyle and experiment.
  • There is an active community.
  • MTG Arena has a large and active community of players. This means that there is always someone to play against.

What I don't like about MTG Arena
  • Old cards cannot be exchanged for resources. Players who own cards that cannot be used in Standard mode cannot exchange them for resources to buy new cards.
This can be frustrating for players who have a large collection of cards that they can no longer use.
  • The price of cards is relatively expensive. MTG Arena is a free-to-play game, but it can be expensive to buy new cards. Players can buy card packs with real money or earn them by playing matches and quests. However, this can be very time-consuming.
  • Many Rare Cards Required
Problem:

To build a competitive deck in MTG Arena, players need many rare cards. Mythic cards, on the other hand, are relatively easy to obtain, as you need only a few of them. However, since you need so many rare cards, you either have to buy a lot of booster packs, which can be expensive, or invest a lot of time to earn them by playing matches and quests.

This can be frustrating for players who
  • Only play occasionally and don't want to spend a lot of money.
  • Want to put together a competitive deck quickly.
Possible solutions:
  • Introduce a system where players can exchange rare cards for other resources.
  • Lower the price of booster packs.
  • Increase the drop rate for rare cards in booster packs.

Conclusion

MTG Arena is a great game that is suitable for both new and experienced players. The game offers a variety of game modes, a large selection of cards, and an active community. The high number of rare cards required for a competitive deck is a major drawback of MTG Arena. This can frustrate players who don't want to spend a lot of money or don't have a lot of time to play. However, the price of cards is relatively expensive and old cards cannot be exchanged for resources.

It is therefore desirable that Wizards of the Coast improve this aspect of the game in the future.

8/10

The feel of Dune2 and Dune 2000 is there despite the 4x elements.
Thanks to the developers for not just buying the license and making a half-assed game.
I look forward to continuing to play.
