Better than a lot of remasters and remakes! Good nostalgic play through. Controls a little clunky at times, particularly the jump pack mechanic. But everything else works well.

Although not a bad game that was okay enough to play to completion, I can't recommend it.
Too many game breaking bugs. Literally preventing progress at one stage unless you set graphics settings specifically to 60 FPS with sync.
The dialog is pretty meh at times.
Lots of places seem to have been poorly play tested and setup, sometimes as bad as just not jumping towards the next ledge along and instead just jumping straight into the abyss, or throwing the rope wildly in a random direction, instead of at the hooking point. This is completely counter to how the rest of the game plays, literally pushing her through the air to make a long jump or pulling her short just to play the "barely made it" type animation. It isn't as bad as the previous game where literally everything you climbed on crumbled, but it still happens far to much in some sections.
All movement is better with a controller, but combat is just terrible using one.

Really good fun, especially with friends. Joining random games with others is ace too.
I've got to edit this to a no. I'll still play the game but do not spend money on it in its current state! Too many crashes and game breaking bugs. Bugs that will break the extract system so you can't finish a map, voice comms breaking to random players, enemies no-clipping straight through buildings and objects as if they weren't there and complete game crashes.

Do not buy this Directors Cut. It regularly crashes. There is a point an hour and a bit into the game where it crashes every single time. Having tried multiple troubleshooting steps as recommended online, none of them have worked. Researching online, this is a known problem with the Directors Cut that Kojima has simply chosen to ignore and not fix.

Very meh. Nothing pulls you in to keep playing. Played 5 hours, put it down, nothing pulled me back in to pick it up again. Battles and allowed unit counts are really very small and limiting. All the perks and politics just weren't that interesting.
Nowhere near as fun as the old Dune strategy game which I spent many hours playing.

A really good game. But the kid... FML the kid... Like many games that employ the aid of an NPC partner, he can be very annoying, gets in the way, starts giving unwanted hints as soon as you enter a new area and just generally has annoying chat. It does better than many games with forced partners, and he's a big part of the story, but wow he's still annoying.
Like many games that rely on blocking and dodging, it takes liberties with the hard (Optional) bosses, particularly the hardest. Some interruptible attacks become unstoppable, or if you interrupt an attack, the boss picks and chooses randomly to instantly recover and lash out with a fast un-blockable attack. Again it's not the worst implementation of a tough boss, but the added randomness makes it hard to plan follow on attacks. Meaning you either have to get lucky or artificially extend the length of the fight to avoid the boss's unexpected recoveries.
The stats are weird, there seems to be a disproportionate effect of just minor stats increases, making you much more powerful. It scales well with the game and the top armour and equipment is as powerful as you would expect. But the way the numbers scale makes it feel like it isn't worth upgrading, when it actually is.
Still well worth playing, especially in a Steam summer sale or similar.

Fun game that actually just works. Kind of shocked Ubisoft had anything to do with it...

Yet another game that is unplayable on new hardware.
Stutters and crashes.
Also the bit I played just isn't that good. Slow, fairly boring, repeat the exact same challenges over and over.
The voices in her head get old very quickly.
The level of camera zoom right on her right shoulder is annoying.

Really good fun, shame it's not long, get it in any Steam sale and it will be worth it.

I can't recommend a game that crashes every time I start it.
Intel 14900K
32 Gig Corsair Vengeance Ram
RTX3090
Asus Rog Strix Z790
High-end system, latest drivers, can't get past the startup video.
