Team Tips for Dust 2 #1: Holding Bombsites (CT)
Protecting bombsites is not the easiest task on Dust 2. As the arguably most played map for competitive, here are some tips on how to hold bombsites as CT.

Beggining of the Match

Eco: Saving money during a round by just buying armor and/or pistol.

If you lose the pistol round in the beggining of your match, ecoing to round four should allow you to be able to buy a weapon such as a rifle as well as armor. This gives you a better chance of beating your opponent and starting a comeback and possibly a glorious win! vXodus' main team have had many games won that have finished around 16-5, all because of a round four eco.

If you were to win the pistol round, you will get a significant cash bonus compared to the losing team. Buying stronger weapons in the next round such as SMGs and rifles will increase your chances of winning. The majority of weapons the other team will have are pistols and maybe cheap SMGs and shotguns. Getting that edge over your opponent is crucial in the beggining rounds of a match, as you want to catapult your team into a commanding lead.

Holding Bombsites

Any skilled player can kill with practically any weapon you hand him, from SSG 08 to P250 to AK-47. But some weapons are good for certain situations then others. Bombsites A and B are quite different, so here are some tips on how to protect them.

Bombsite B

Covering the B site is arguably slightly easier than the A site. It's more closed off. But once the other team have it, it's a hell of a site to clear. The entrance of the tunnel can be easily covered by a sniper rifle of any kind with the player in the corner facing the tunnel. Be sure to stand back, so that you don't get shot from window. Another place to hold the site is by the car, near the entrance of the tunnel. You can see anyone entering the bombsite from double doors and window.

In a Terrorist B rush scenario, standing by the entrance of the tunnel with a shotgun while peeking in and out is a effective strategy to stop the rush. Make sure a teamate is distracting them though, so that they won't expect a shotgun in their face.

Bombsite A

As the team holding the bombsite, A has three ways for the enemy to attack the site. They could attack at A Long, A Short, or through CT spawn. Incendiary grenades are key when stopping incoming rushes.

A Long

For CT, one player could run and cover double doors with either a assault rifle (M4, AUG) or a sniper rifle. If the enemy force is too much, throwing a incendiary grenade at the entrance of double doors will stop them from rushing for a while. That gives you time to move back to the bombsite, and hopefully tell an awper to get ready and cover A Long. Using something like an AUG, or another scoped weapon lets you look down A Long with more magnification, allowing you to pick your targets easier.

A Short

A usual sign of an attack coming from A Short is a smoke grenade at mid double doors. It is so that CT players can't see the terrorists as they move to A Short. Someone that covers A Short would usually carry a assualt rifle and an incendiary grenade, along with other grenades of their choice. If the terrorists rush A Short, a incendiary thrown in front of the stairs would delay for a while. A common thing the enemy team would do is rotate to B, since the CT players at B might be rotating to A to help out. Be wary of rotations, as the terrorists at that point still have two other options to go to.

Covering the Middle and Spreading Out Your Team

One thing the CT team has to remember is that the terrorists can still come through the middle double doors and go to either bombsites. Bombsite B is usually the pick if the terrorists are stuck in tunnels. If the bomb and the terrorist team hasn't been spotted yet, remember to have one player check mid once in a while. Usually, two CT players would cover Bombsite B, while three would cover A. At B, a sniper and a rifleman that supports and also watches mid is usually the set up. At A, one player would be at A Long covering double doors, one awper at site covering both AS and AL as support(depends where they are) and a rifleman covering A Short. Either the rifleman at B or a rifleman at A could periodically check out mid if the bomb or terrorists have yet been spotted.
