In the fall of 1997, friends Ametren Fox and Silvergate sought to form a guild within the world of Ultima Online. The two blended their personas to form what was known as the Silver Fox Klan. Soon enough our ranks grew to just over a dozen, allowing us to establish not only a permanent guild home but launch a dedicated galley.

Between 1998-2002, SFK participated in other games such as Unreal Tournament and Everquest. While the SFK was essentially put on hold during this period... the spark always remained. It wasn't until 2002 and the release of Battlefield 1942 where the SFK began to rebuild its ranks. Our dominance in the FPS scene grew larger, even as we moved onto Battlefield Vietnam and later BF2. It wasn't uncommon to have the SFK fill out nearly half a server.

While the ranks continued to swell, several of our members were looking for something different after the many years of competitive FPS gaming. It was at this point that Ametren decided to build a new branch of the SFK and return to his RPG roots with Everquest 2. We quickly found that an online presence was needed to help coordinate the various activities on multiple fronts. Fortunately, Ametren possessed the web/php coding genius that was needed to make this happen. With the creative direction of Silvergate... a web presence like no other was born at www.silverfoxklan.net. The site featured a news section, forums, private messaging, blogs and more.

The SFK stayed relatively active for the next 5-6 years until around 2010. A combination of waning interest and life altering events lead to the overall decline of membership. What was once 60 members strong, dwindled to less than a dozen. In 2014 the website was shuttered with the remaining members keeping in touch through alternative means like Facebook and Discord. Today the SFK continues to light up the battlefield with its small but dedicated group, celebrating over 20 years of gaming.



In 1997, the name Silver Fox Klan was primarily derived from the combination of two names: Ametren Fox and Silvergate. When deciding on a final encapsulating descriptor, we settled on Clan. Unfortunately in our naivety and lack of foresight as young teenagers, we replaced the "C" for a "K" to sound edgy and cool much like replacing an "S" for a "Z". The original intent behind the use of the word Klan was innocent, never representing any kind of racial hatred or bigotry. Not at any point then, now or in the future will this group ever represent those ideals.
