    Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters
"Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters is produced and directed by Hikaru Yasui. It stars little sisters Nepgear, Uni, Rom, and Ram. The character models for the sisters are brand-new. In battle, three party members fight in real-time, and the characters you are not controlling act on their own. You can also switch between characters. You can unleash combo skills, which can be activated at the press of a button and link with other characters; and tactical skills, which are unique actions that consume a dedicated gauge. Fields can be freely walked around and explored. The PlayStation 5 version offers a greater sense of immersion via the DualSense wireless controller’s haptic feedback functionality. The story sees the little sisters awaken after being put to sleep for two years by someone, to find that people now have smartphones called “MagiPhones” that have taken over the market. Planeptune has fallen to the “Buzzoer Phenomenon,” which brought hordes of monsters, and the older sisters have gone missing."
The pics are sadly in terrible quality, yet it's also the case on the actual Famitsu article, lol. So, we have to wait for scans. But in any case: ➖First page[www.gematsu.com]Second page[www.gematsu.com] Screenshots from the game: ➖1[i.imgur.com]2[i.imgur.com]3[i.imgur.com]4[i.imgur.com]5[i.imgur.com]6[i.imgur.com]7[i.imgur.com]
While the official site is in a very early stage, there are also some screenshots. https://www.compileheart.com/neptune/nepsis/ The game launches next year on April 21 in Japan. Source: https://www.gematsu.com/2021/11/hyperdimension-neptunia-sisters-vs-sisters-announced-for-ps5-ps4

My opinion:
To be honest, the story and the fact that they showed images from main games on the first page kinda screams of yet another main game.
Though it's also nice, that they acknowledge 4GO as one, too, since there's an image of it. And personally, I always saw it as one anyway, lol.

Gameplay-wise I really can't tell yet, what it's going to be, or what it is reminding me off. But so far, it doesn't look like another AU/MTM/4GO since there is a combo row in the battle screenshots.

As for the story. Its basically "back-to-the-roots". And it was really just a matter of time of them tackling the whole smartphone gaming topic, lol. Because it just is a huuuge thing, and somewhat the biggest dread of actual handheld consoles. Which makes the sisters the perfect fit for the game.
However... What does "Sisters vs. Sisters" in the title mean? Would be funny if the other sisters are major smartphone brands.
But since the phones are called "MagiPhones", is it just going to be Arfoire again?

In the end, I'm honestly glad, that the sisters got some spotlight again. Since they weren't even in the last 2 games.

I forgot to say one thing... Which is, great... reused enemies... lol.

Remember "Phantom Dream E Ninja"? Which I mentioned in the very first news?
It is now indeed an actual thing. And honestly, I never expected it to be what it is, lol.

  • Its a collaboration between Neptunia and Senran Kagura
  • The art is done by their respective artists Tsunako and Yaegashi Nan
  • Developed by Tamsoft (Gameplay will be like AU/MTM)

Personal Notes:
  • While there were some collaborations already like Marvy or Nep in the Senran Kagura water gun game, this one is topping that now by a huge mile, lol.
  • I'm also really, really glad, that they choose Asuka and not Yumi, since I personally think, that she kinda ruined the series. But that's a whole different story.
  • Now the biggest question... What's the roster going to be? Does it mean, that I can play :handsy: in the game? I sure hope so!
  • The game looks visually pretty nice! Which also goes for the combat, in terms of animations and stuff.
So yeah, I'm honestly looking forward to it and very excited to hear more about upcoming news.

so with herculian that was a little bit of a hyberbole, but the fact is keeping multiple character arcs going over multiple games is way more difficult and then you add the fact the first games true end has the goddesses become mortal and then the game selling enough for a sequel. Therefore they made it unrelated to the first and made multiverse a thing which locked the series to be in its current state

Also the series never acknowledges the fact the goddesses are immortal and other character are not, and I doubt it ever will. To do it they'd have to kill a character most likely IF or Compa which they aren't gonna do. Also another thing a lot of series for example comic books rarely if ever have the characters age between installments (unless to serve the plot) so it really doesn't matter all that much

And of course, I will never be fully "okay" with Neptunia while it keeps introducting mortal characters like adult Nep and associating them with the immortal goddesses. Every time this is brought up, it depresses me to no end and I'd sooner drop the series forever over playing a Nep game with a main scenario revolving around that. And knowing how much they ♥♥♥♥ up with their decisions, I wouldn't be surprised if they finally one day introduced the Plutia of "this" world, the main one, the "Hyperdimension" and she turns out to be also a mortal who will grow old and die before they even realize it. How can anyone enjoy this? To me, it's purely awful.

In all honesty, I really hate having continued this conversation here, because if I hadn't, I wouldn't have remembered that horrific DeviantArt comic that I now cannot get out of my mind.

Also, are you implying that every single franchise that has decent consistency has had its writers/developers undergo a "herculean task"? I mean, it's not easy but it's not THAT difficult. Especially in Neptunia, which isn't really all that complex. It's they, themselves, who complicate things by adding new dimensions with the-same-but-not-quite characters every other Tuesday. It works for random spin-offs, but not for stories that are supposedly "canon". Like NepSis, the most recent example. Do you think there's even a one in a quadrillion chance that the little sisters wouldn't ask for help from Plutia and Rei in that situation? For most, sadly, these are insignificant details. To me, these interactions are the core of the series. And I do think it wouldn't be THAT hard to keep a consistent story that way. So you can enjoy it all you want, but I really can't.
All For Her Smile 22 May, 2022 @ 9:24pm
I'm not saying it's easy, I specifically used the phrase "work really hard" which, by definition, means it's not an easy thing to do. I'm saying IF/CH don't care to even attempt it. Whenever they face the slightest consistency problem, they just go "oh, different dimension, different characters, different rules, done". I almost believe that this is their "Step 1" at this point. It's the equivalent of attempting to build a whole city and leaving every single building half-finished in favor of starting to erect new ones, in varying styles and different architecture. When all is over and you look back, you'll notice that your city looks more like an abandonded circus.

And sorry, I don't know anything at all about Kingdom Hearts. So maybe some franchises benefit from being inconsistent and if I hadn't been so distant from videogaming in the past years I'm sure I could come up with an example or two. But not Neptunia. For me, personally, these choices are what ruins the series.
Princess Oreo, Queen Of Rats 22 May, 2022 @ 8:58pm
look on the herculian task thing. Not everyone has the writing talent to pull something like that off. Look at kingdom hearts all spin-offs are cannon and required story knowledge and it just doesn't work. You say its easy when it really isn't.
All For Her Smile 22 May, 2022 @ 8:50pm
And when you say " they don't have to do the herculean task of keeping good consistency through all products ", I interprete that as "they found a good excuse to be half-assed about everything and never work really hard to put out something amazing". Just imagine how much of a failure the Metal Gear series would be if Kojima had adopted Compile Heart's approach to consistency and abrupt, inexcusable abandonment of characters.

In the end, maybe Neptunia just isn't for me and it was a mistake to get into it in the first place.
