so with herculian that was a little bit of a hyberbole, but the fact is keeping multiple character arcs going over multiple games is way more difficult and then you add the fact the first games true end has the goddesses become mortal and then the game selling enough for a sequel. Therefore they made it unrelated to the first and made multiverse a thing which locked the series to be in its current state

Also the series never acknowledges the fact the goddesses are immortal and other character are not, and I doubt it ever will. To do it they'd have to kill a character most likely IF or Compa which they aren't gonna do. Also another thing a lot of series for example comic books rarely if ever have the characters age between installments (unless to serve the plot) so it really doesn't matter all that much

And of course, I will never be fully "okay" with Neptunia while it keeps introducting mortal characters like adult Nep and associating them with the immortal goddesses. Every time this is brought up, it depresses me to no end and I'd sooner drop the series forever over playing a Nep game with a main scenario revolving around that. And knowing how much they ♥♥♥♥ up with their decisions, I wouldn't be surprised if they finally one day introduced the Plutia of "this" world, the main one, the "Hyperdimension" and she turns out to be also a mortal who will grow old and die before they even realize it. How can anyone enjoy this? To me, it's purely awful.

In all honesty, I really hate having continued this conversation here, because if I hadn't, I wouldn't have remembered that horrific DeviantArt comic that I now cannot get out of my mind.

Also, are you implying that every single franchise that has decent consistency has had its writers/developers undergo a "herculean task"? I mean, it's not easy but it's not THAT difficult. Especially in Neptunia, which isn't really all that complex. It's they, themselves, who complicate things by adding new dimensions with the-same-but-not-quite characters every other Tuesday. It works for random spin-offs, but not for stories that are supposedly "canon". Like NepSis, the most recent example. Do you think there's even a one in a quadrillion chance that the little sisters wouldn't ask for help from Plutia and Rei in that situation? For most, sadly, these are insignificant details. To me, these interactions are the core of the series. And I do think it wouldn't be THAT hard to keep a consistent story that way. So you can enjoy it all you want, but I really can't.

I'm not saying it's easy, I specifically used the phrase "work really hard" which, by definition, means it's not an easy thing to do. I'm saying IF/CH don't care to even attempt it. Whenever they face the slightest consistency problem, they just go "oh, different dimension, different characters, different rules, done". I almost believe that this is their "Step 1" at this point. It's the equivalent of attempting to build a whole city and leaving every single building half-finished in favor of starting to erect new ones, in varying styles and different architecture. When all is over and you look back, you'll notice that your city looks more like an abandonded circus.

And sorry, I don't know anything at all about Kingdom Hearts. So maybe some franchises benefit from being inconsistent and if I hadn't been so distant from videogaming in the past years I'm sure I could come up with an example or two. But not Neptunia. For me, personally, these choices are what ruins the series.

look on the herculian task thing. Not everyone has the writing talent to pull something like that off. Look at kingdom hearts all spin-offs are cannon and required story knowledge and it just doesn't work. You say its easy when it really isn't.

Just imagine how much of a failure the Metal Gear series would be if Kojima had adopted Compile Heart's approach to consistency and abrupt, inexcusable abandonment of characters.

In the end, maybe Neptunia just isn't for me and it was a mistake to get into it in the first place.

So yeah, I can judge each individual game by its own merits, but that's not the reason I am into Neptunia. I don't care what each game has to offer on its own. It's simple as that. If it ignores everything that's happened so far and practically has no beginning and no destination, or, has no solid foundation to stand on and nothing to look forward to after it's over, it just falls flat. It's empty. And maybe it would be slightly more enjoyable if my favorite characters were in, but as 4GO proved over the past several years, that's not enough. Even if Plutia and Arfoire are in (Rei is still ignored, by the way), I still can't manage to get invested in it. I've started and dropped it four times already and I don't know if I'll ever be finishing it. And I don't know if I'll even play Nep RPG and the other spinoffs I haven't touched. I just don't care about random stand-alone stories. Especially when they add yet another mortal Nep to remind us that none will have what the original has.

And okay, I understand everything you say about comic book or 40k characters being different depending on who's writing the novel/comic book, but that doesn't really apply here because all Nep games have the same writers. Nep manga are different and I can accept that, but even they tried to be faithful to the games, HNW tried to be faithful to the anime, MT tried to be faithful to RB1. And if, IF they had shown Plutia in the final panel, happily running along side the goddesses and Rei, it would've been the perfect "version". But even that was a failure, for some reason nobody wants to have them all happy together and it's one of the things that drives me mad. VII failed because they ditched Plutia and made Arfoire evil again and HNW failed because even though Arfoire had turned good in the end of the anime (more of a rival than an enemy) the author completely disregarded her existence. And Plutia/Rei also never appeared in HNW, did they?

See, that's exactly what depresses the ♥♥♥♥ out of me, I even mentioned that specific thing years ago when we talked about the same topic. You even reminded me of that mini DeviantArt comic someone made, with Neptune starting off with IF & Compa as babies and watching them grow old, hospitalized and even forgetting who she is, then tried to remind Compa by drawing a picture of the "old times" for her but she had died before Nep could finish it and make it to the hospital. That's "wholesome"? That makes me want to die, myself, so that I won't have to experience any more stories like that, be it official, fan-made or implied, by simply adding aging characters among non-aging ones. I don't understand how people can like that sort of thing. I just read your messages after waking up and I feel that remembering that fanart ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up my mood for the rest of the day, or until my mind manages to block it out again.

Also flat out the concept of a nep who isn't a goddess so doesn't age and having her meet neptune adds an interesting character thing. I'm disappointed they never really acknowledge the ramifications cause that would be interesting. Maybe make nep question is her pseudo-immortality worth it if she never ages and will see her human friends grow old and die as she stays the same age as long as she isn't replaced by another planeptune cpu. Like neptune having to accept that her human friends will die before her and choosing to be friends with them anyway would be quite wholesome imo.

Fact of the matter is by setting different dimensions allows them a lot more leeway when a different writing team writes something. Like all the main series games can be interpreted to be completely standalone on purpose. So you just pretending like vii isn't cannon/doesn't exist is way more viable than other properties. How they don't really acknowledge the oracles, plutia, peashy, etc outside of the games they are in is not a bug its a feature. Like it or not.

You kinda just gotta go "is this piece of nep-media good on its own merits or not?"

Also the ova adult nep could be entirely unrelated to vii adult nep in terms of backstory. idk haven't seen the ova with her in it I mean to but i keep forgetting.

Look part of the charm of being able to make alt realities for a franchise is so they don't have to do the herculean task of keeping good consistency through all products.

like for instance people who are into comic books will refer to eras of different characters based on who and when was writing it. Because each writer while within some guidelines would end up writing their version of the character. This version of the character some traits are emphasized more and others not really brought up as much. Still basically the same character, but slightly diff interpretation. Also some writers wrote defining work that defined the character for decades others not so much.

Another instance in the Warhammer 40k Horus Heresy Novel series several characters have wildly different characterization between different books and authors.

I don't want to be spoiled about Nep RPG but I don't know when I'll actually play it. Still, it starts killing it for me, having the same characters re-appearing in infinite versions of themselves from infinite dimensions. Once was interesting, twice was already boring, now it's just pathetic. Makes for zero consistency and below zero inspiration on the developer's part, if that's even possible. When will I learn to not have hopes anymore?

At least this development saved me from hoping for anything good from NepSis.

Welp, that's another OVA I won't be watching then. I hate the existence of Adult Nep and I've explained countless times why. At this point, it's as if they're purposefully building on the things I don't like and ignore everything I do. Honestly, the last time I was excited about Neptunia was September of 2016, when I had just finished RB3 (and was quite sad about the trilogy ending) and played Action Unleashed for the first time. Five and a half years of constant disappointment.

Also super neps is the best spin off. Its the best spin off. Combat has some issues but story and visuals are fantastic. It really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ uses its artstyle to the fullest!

There is one dungeon in the game that took my breath away due to the visuals!

also also the reason the cpus are kids in those screenshots is spoilers to super neps. The non-spoiler answer is that those baby cpus are actually from a diff dimension than the main anime one unless its a flashback.

Silver haired lady in the screenshots is Chrome the previous Goddess of Gamindustri and she raised the goddess in that dimension then gave up her powers (kinda like how the tari goddess was defeated gave birth to the cpus gave up her powers and died in rb1, except minus the dying part and the being evil part). Also Chrome is designed similar to reformed arfoire from rb1. So those screenshots with the cpus as babys is prolly from the super nep rpg dimension not the main dimension of the anime.

Oh and who is the one at the bottom-right screenshot, next to Nepgear/Purple Sister? Is it supposed to be Purple Heart? It doesn't look like it... The armor is wrong, the hair is completely different (the front/side parts look right, the back does not) and she doesn't have the "CPU eyes"... Damn it... Don't tell me that's somehow Adult ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Neptune again...

Okay, I watched the second one too. And I'm surprised that a certain lady with a big mustache didn't show up out of nowhere to buy them the game as a present . Big wasted opportunity to link the new game to THAT.

Now, I'm mostly sleepless for the past 3 days -sleeping for 1-2 hour intervals at best- and even though my brain is exhausted, I still can't get sleep right now, at 3:53 am. No English subtitles? What am I supposed to get out of them?

Well, anyway, the first one is cute indeed, but even though the 3D models look improved... I don't like the 2D art style at all. Rom, especially, looks so wrong. Her face is off by a lot and her arms are in such an awkward position. Very weird, I really hope that's not how they look in the game.

About the game, so far I'm calling it "NepSis", which is the official abbreviation on Compile Heart's site. SVS (Sisters Versus Sisters) can also be used as a backup name, I suppose.

36-38 is not that bad if your in the dryer parts of Texas. Its the humid parts where it becomes hell. When I was in scouts for summer camp for we would occasionally go to a camp in west part of Texas which is the desert part. The temperature during the day was basically always over 37.78 C and it was actually pretty nice especially because the camp was in a valley of the Davis Mountain range and so there was a real nice breeze going through camp.

The part of Texas I live in theres no real difference between spring and summer or winter as the only difference in the weather is its getting warmer. Then where I went to college in Texas (which was in a different region of Texas which means its weather is different still Texas weather but its different) its Spring was essentially its rainy season.

Me personally I prefer the cold to the heat when it feels like most people here seem to prefer the other way around like I feel like I see people start wearing jackets as soon as the temp drops below 26.66 C

Yes, indeed it's quite warm here too these past few days and that's a relief, due to the insane prices of heating oil and natural gas in recent months. Personally, for the months of December and January, my bill for natural gas was FIVE TIMES what it was last year, for the exact same period. Yes. FIVE TIMES. That's borderline insanity and yet it's real...

And Lesbo-Ramo... Rambo? Anyway, yes, that really sucks considering spring really is the best season. I wouldn't want to live in a place where the seasons go back and forth between the two "extremes". I wish we could have 10 months of spring at 27-28C and 2 months of heavy snowy winter at -5C. That's winter temps for where I live lol (it gets lower but generally it stays around there on average it feels like). Although today here it is a low of 43F and a high of 80F (min: 6.11C, max: 26.66C). Then again where I live basically has 2 seasons summer and winter :P

Oh and all the limited store editions look nice. Still don't know if this game is worth the price of a limited edition though, too early to tell. And of course the big sisters were going to be in the game, I don't think any of us doubted that. :p It's the appearance of all the others, that's a constant problem with everything Nep after RB3.

Hmm. So it's a mixture of RB-style areas/movement with "invisible" enemy encounters (FF7 style) and 4GO-style combat? The specials (?) on the bottom right also look like a mixture of AU/MTM/4GO. Looks interesting, but still can't say if I'm excited, there's way too many factors more important than visuals and combat. The length of the game, the replayability and of course the playable roster are far more important. Still hoping for certain characters to return, even though I know it's not going to happen. Also, good catch, about the passers-by disappearing during fights, didn't even notice they were there in the first place.

The music is good, I agree. Also, it says "Next Stage". Wasn't that the title of the main theme of Producting Perfection?

As for post 4k, I predict now that Spooky with inadvertently snatch it from within my grasp.

Sooo... Now it looks even less like AU/MTM/4GO. Because there are two types of minimaps. One is the typical dungeon one we always had, yet the other is a grid with the enemy positions. This means, that you "transition" into fights.
Another good giveaway is, that suddenly all the NPC characters in the background are gone during a fight, which were walking on the sidewalk before.

Other than that, I do really like the music. The one that starts at 0:24 does sound as if it could be the one that plays during battles.
