Ciphers, Sliders, and Secrets: What Makes a Nancy Drew Puzzle

One of the core features that defines a Nancy Drew mystery game is the puzzles. When players dive into a case as detective Nancy Drew, they have countless opportunities for that satisfying "aha!" moment. These fundamental game mechanics challenge the mind, test logic, and move the investigation forward in fun and surprising ways! For over 30 years, HeR Interactive developers and "puzzlemeisters" have paper play tested, prototyped, coded, and created hundreds of game puzzles as a major part of our game design process. Slider puzzles often begin as a quick brainstorm before digital prototyping tools help designers set player flow and experience. When we build ciphers, the puzzle is often baked into the story, taking players across the environment to look for patterns to solve. We also love creating physical, tactile, logic mind-bending mechanical combinations for our puzzle-loving detectives.

Nancy Drew games are filled with mini-games and puzzles that offer repeat play, including food puzzles that stir up an appetite for fun. From creating coffee orders in Mystery of the Seven Keys, to bento boxes in Shadow at the Water's Edge, to French cuisine in Danger by Design, these sequencing challenges are built with authenticity in mind. Designing puzzles like the barista mini-game in Mystery of the Seven Keys meant creating unique combinations, fail states, and complex flowcharts to manage every possible sequence... plus drinking our fair share of Patrície's favorite coffee for "research purposes," of course!

I would love to see a return to the former style of games. Midnight in Salem and Mystery of the Seven Keys are the first Nancy Drew games I haven't been able to finish, the new game engine was too buggy so restarting the game all the time took away the immersion and got too frustrating.

Plus the incredible atmosphere that the old engine made possible is just not there in the new ones yet.

Please revamp the old games into vr you dont need to redo audio or anything and dont make it intensive but i buy the entire collection if it was vr

I need HeR Interactive to start busting out a bunch of new Nancy Drew's because I'm approaching the last 3 games (I have played them all except for these last 3) and I'm gonna start freaking out when I have no more to play lmao I've been playing since I was like idk, 7? I'm 25 now. I'm not ready to have no more games to look forward to playing and spending my adult money on

Will we finally have these Nancy Drew games in French?
I have several CDs of these games and they are in French, why aren't they available as French downloads?
If they were, I'd buy the whole Nancy Drew collection. But they're all in English, so it's a shame I can't play them because of a translation that doesn't exist when these games are sold.
