Death Before Defeat!

The Chapter formed as a splinter group, from it another chapter that left the first members abandoned, and cast aside. They were Squad Alpheaus, a reserve tactical squad, of not much renown. Abandoned, desertion did not seem as heinous an act, as it did at the time, the lone squad set off to forge their own destiny.
Growing from deserters to a warband, it was no longer a mere squad, not a rag tag band of mercenary astartes, they were a chapter, and a chapter needs a name.
The Golden Dragons was founded on nomadic, wandring marines reorganised into an effective fighting force. I was the Founding Chapter Master, aided solely by the apothecary, chaplain and other remaining members of that first squad. But as time wore on, we proved not to be as sustainable as our dreams of heroism warranted, our ranks dwindled, lost, deserted, even betrayal at the very end.
For a wandering chapter can't truely stifle the corruption that built when left to it's own devices, so one day, one illustrious officer enacted a schism, decimating our ranks and plunging the Chapter into obscurity and ruin where it now lies.
