Teams of 6 and only 2 scouts because they are usually there to pressure the point and harass the medic to force an early uber. Any more scouts and it just becomes overwhelming. Two good scouts can pick off the demo, roaming soldier and other scouts.

btw, at least some 6 months ago, the restriction on medic and demo was the norm for competitive play (teams of 5). of course there was no limit to other classes since the team size was so small, but overall i think the restrictions are pretty good. only questionable one i guess is limiting to 2 scouts. probably wont be as good as on lotus when the medic actually heals and people actually play as a team.

Limiting or restricting class numbers is only to ensure nothing is abused, not to preserve game-quality. One is only needed, yes, but unlimited gives the team to choose how they want to their setup and prevents the server from dictating what's good or bad.

Heavy is there for two reasons: preserve capture points (or in this case, capture the point to pressure the opposing team to stop hiding to charge their uber or to stop regrouping if they are lower in numbers) and to tank damage so the other players can roam. Usually the heavy pockets so the soldiers can roam.

Lots of engies is pointless. they're sacrificing movement and HP for immobile objects. Additionally, metal is limited and can't support 3 engies.

If they want to go engies, you have a spy and a demo and two soldiers, plus a heavy to tank the damage sufficiently.

Any way...I like your limits to a degree. Just allow only one heavy and one engie. Heavies are a strong class with a medic,which is why there is one medic,but one with out a medic is just a paperweight,because I personally haven't ever seen a heavy do a whole lot of work on hes own without a medic,but that's just me. Unlimited engies is just an annoyance,2 or 3 people go engie,then your having dispensers everywhere and sentries up the wazoo,which makes for annoying game play. The team who has 3 engies will probably loose any way,but that's just my point...Only one is needed,there doesn't need to be unlimited.

1 demo, 2 soldiers, unlimited engies, unlimited spies, 2 pyros, unlimited snipers, 1 medic, 2 heavies, 2 scouts. Those should be your limits. These are the usual limits in a standard 6v6 competitive match.

I think 1 medic is sensible, i dont see it as a big disadvantage not having 1 though, a dispenser fills the gap left from a missing medic imo. I just think that each class should have a limit and I dont think that because it prevents others being that class too is a bad thing because players are generally good at more than one class....

I think only 1 medic should be allowed on each team,just saying. 1 is good enough,it does the basic purpose of healing,2 might be op in one team,allowing for multiple ubers and more cluster annoyance,so I think 1 is more than enough. It also makes it more team oriented protecting your only medic,but at the same time,then the medic will be the most important class on each team if there was a one limit,it would mean that if the medic died on one team it would give the other team a huge advantage.

If there wasn't a rule forcing a 1 person class you would need to enforce a rule that limits each class or each of a certain select class/es to be limited to lets say 2 per team.......thoughts?

Got a 3rd reason why 1 class per team is a bad idea.

If I chose a class (like a spy), it would prevent others from selecting that class to become better at it. This will hinder growth in player's abiliities and cause our members to seek out less restricted servers or groups for development.

We already have 50 + members. Having 1 class per team would mean only 9 max per team (18 people max per game). What if we have a full house and have 15 vs 15? It would be unfair for people to sit out on a game and this will ulitmately hinder the development of this group.

IMO 5v5, First to 15, just like Counter Strike scoring. Class restrictions, 1 per class max. Pst if you want more information on how to set up the rounds.
